vortech FAQ: read this before asking vortech questions
#242
probably pretty close to that, but I personally wouldn't do it without opening up flow more with changing cats, or headers, or cams. Otherwise you'll probably be over 12 psi which is up to you if you're comfortable with that psi level on a stock block.
440cc might not be enough injector for the 2.87. I always tell people to go with 550cc just to be sure, but if you already have 440's installed, give it a try and see where you end up first. It might work if the tune is conservative and depending if your state puts ethanol in the gas or not or how high the elevation is where you live

how loud is the BPV when shifting? I know since its constantly open its pretty loud when cruising, but I can't find any clips of the BPV "blowing off". I am asking of course in comparisong to a BOV.

it sounds pretty decent. almost like a bov but not as defined. Bov is short burst sound.. the vortech (mine atleast) makes the sound a little longer and it fades into the normal jet engine sound.... I like it... I wondered if mine was louder than everyone elses but I got use to it.... mine goes pretty much silent when I am wot. I cant hear it over my exhaust, but any other time I can hear it. If I am just parking lot speed it is really loud....

strictly speaking about elevation, the short and simple answer is yes...but it's more complicated than that.
It still depends on where you are. It's sorta the same thing like temperature vs wind chill temperature.
A rough rule of thumb is air density will decrease about 3% for each 1000 ft of elevation above sea level which you can also ball park figure for your fuel requirement.
But the reality is there's still a bunch of other crap involved like temperature, pressure density, and how quickly lower density air compresses vs higher density air, and how that might slightly change the shape of your boost chart, etc.

No, it's quite a bit different. It sounds more like a gradual release that continues on (since the blower keeps pushing out air). My friend was driving next to me and said it sounds like a blow dryer while cruising...then someone turns it off when I go into boost. Then "pssshhh" and the blow dryer gets turned back on again
That's the thing - when you go into boost, it just sounds like a normal Z (with a little louder exhaust). So you don't get that "ramp-up" sound of a turbo - it's kind of the opposite.
However, just cruising around town it sounds pretty mean...especially rolling in somewhere allowing the engine to slow you down.

You can kinda hear my BPV in these videos:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ApDXfWZihWw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ApDXfWZihWw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NmjRr51m0GU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NmjRr51m0GU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Crappy video by my friend but just after the 1:00 minute mark is a good outside sound of it:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xX2uj2IPNFk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xX2uj2IPNFk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
This is the standard Vortech bypass valve in all of the videos. In the first video it is hard to hear and almost sounds like it doesn't go off but it is because I have an exhaust in that video which I don't in the other two.
The second video you can faintly here it from inside the car and in the last video from outside it is clearly audible at the end.

Here's some videos from a member on the 350**tech forum; you can definitely hear the BPV:
