Bigc: You should be fine with 2.87. I would skip the hfc and go with tp. Oh my bad, you are in cali.
Btw, machined pulley. What I heard there is newer and older kind, its little diff on something. Once you tight up the pulley, you will notice it, if you need it to do or not. Once pulley spins smooth, No reason to check the pulley in future.
I heard good thing about your tuner...if you go 2.87 I'm very interestin to hear the result. If do, I will have a couple question for you...

thanks chef
i mounted the 2.87 pulley on the jackshaft housing and saw that there definitely will be a clearance issue. i'm going to ask a friend of mine today if he can mill down the pulley for me (he's a machinist). the pic in your thread was very helpful in seeing exactly what to do.

looks good. This is probably the wrong thread to post it in but oh well.

Why innovate wideband with PLX gauge system? why not just all plx or all innovate? It won't matter, i'm just curious.

Sounds good. I didn't have a time to repaint the pulley, but it's good to keep that repaint it after machined it out. Good luck

wasn't sure where to post this and i didn't want to clutter up the forum with another build thread (particularly since this isn't a huge build compared most of the ones here )

as for the innovate, i've heard and read some reviews that say the plx wideband has some latency issues. the plx works fine, but the innovate seems to perform better. one of my friends who i trust quite a bit on this stuff also had very good things to say about the innovate wideband.

makes sense. I don't have any first hand experience with PLX so I didn't know there was a problem with the wideband. I know quite a few large builds that either go with innovate or plx.

I run all innovate and i love them. The software is awsome and as far as mine goes they are accurate. I did have quite a few issues with my LM-2 datalogger so steer from it if you can. lol

man i know i posted on here before but i kept coming back to it. It seems that half of people say to have big $$ on the side in case something goes wrong because something will go wrong but all the tuners i have talked to say an ideal setup for this with about 380-400 whp with 7 or 8 psi is reliable. On the other hand other people say its not...

Like i mentioned my budget is 6 grand tops with tune and everything, car is used as DD

always be ready to add more money into it.

the more things you add to a car and the more moving parts always means a higher chance of something failing. It just happens.

Sell it and buy a non-rev up Vortech kit.

When I bought my Vortech, they messed up the order and sent me a non-revup kit for my revup.
When I talked to them, I didnt have the whole kit replaced, just the mounting plate, 3 pcs of pulleys (cog and ribbed) and the belt. As far as I know, these are the only parts that differ between the two kits.
You can always ask Vortech and make sure nothing else is needed, but I'm pretty sure it was just that.

I bet it's only about 100-150 tops for these things, so it's worth doing it if you dont wanna waste time trying to sell and then wait until another one is up for sale.

Just my .02

Mounting plate is $500 alone and those other parts would add up to a few hundred.

ya, if you have a non-rev motor and a revup kit then it won't work. It doesn't have to do with the Utec, it has to do with the mounting plate. The mounting plate is completely different and won't even physically fit on the car.

Default Meth/h2o

I know you've probably spoken to this before, but after ten days and only getting thru ten pages of this thread, I thought I'd go ahead and ask. I have a one gal. meth tank and pump I need to install with my Vortech and was wondering where to put it. If you could answer or point me to appropriate posting I would appreciate.

Also, I have found another site that talks re: meth/h20 and they ID Peak washer fluid -20 from Walmart($1.64/gal.) as being 40% meth and can make it 50% by adding a couple of bottles of HEET. Thanx, Dave n Denver
