vortech FAQ: read this before asking vortech questions
I'm at 3 years, 40k miles on my Vortech with the 3.33. So far, the only problem I've had with my Vortech is an oil leak because the original install misrouted the return line. I've had to replace the Cog belt once. Hmm, maybe it's time to look over things.
Lol...had to chime in...
My old Vortech setup was running was running 13.5 psi on a stock block...I didn't bend any rods, but I did burn out piston rings on one of my cylinders; Kyle from IPP confirmed it when I had him tear down my old block....that being said, I did have a Revup so I don't know if the ring failure was due to the psi or the inherent issues with the Revup...
I do find it interesting that one can gain so much whp with only 2 psi added from my old setup (up to 16.2 psi), but then, my new Vortech setup did change significantly...
Also, please explain how 13psi boost pressure is too much for a stock block when hes not making enough torque to bend the rods? Unless physics have changed and a measure of back pressure in the system started to bend rods overnight
If you arent making 380-400 ft pounds of wtrq, you can keep going with smaller pulleys.
Also, if you are stil using the 93" belt on a non-rev, you should call vortech ASAP and get the revised pulley setup and run the much shorter serp belt.

stock belt should fit 1 sized smaller pulley than it came with if hte belt isn't worn out. So if 3.33 is stock for that system then you'll still be ok with a 3.12 on the belt size. I would just use the stock vortech belt for a test fit then if you run out of belt tension you can get hte next size smaller. I just went to napa and got a Gates belt from them. They keep almost every size in stock and it's half the price vortech sells them for.
hey, while you're waiting you might as well look for a stock block somewhere. You can pick them up online for 500ish so it would be cheaper than using your own engine for a core. Core is 1500$ so you'll be saving money technically. Then you can have that built while you're still driving your car and that reduces downtime. It also keeps your stock engine in your garage for a backup.

yeah.. if and when i decide to do that.. i think your right. i will just get another stock block and build it up but well see how it goes.
^^^^^^^^^^ I think that guy making 13 psi has the T Trim Blower. Maybe he bought it used? I just got the T Trim blower so ill post numbers soon.
I put down 409 with the 2.87 on a rev up kit with the base blower. headers test pipes stillen y and stock exhaust
I now have this in addition to the T Tim
Fast Intenstion Extreme true dual exhaust Stillen Y is gone!
WB 255
650cc
A buddy of mine had a completely stock car but had the T-TRIM with a 2.87 pulley and made 14psi 385 on a dynodynamic (lowest HP nubered dyno in our area) and 350RWTQ. his dad has a GT3 that he claims he ran down after a 1 or 2 second jump.
I think with my set up I will be pushing 11.5-12psi with the TTrim and 650s/walbora etc.
Ill let you all know whats up...
FYI I just bought an oil consumption longblock today because 12psi is still a lot...cant use the word safe, however I agree with str8dum1 is all about the TQ
I have heard of a 4 door 6mt TTrim SC out running all of the stock block TT kits on the top end. I have sence followed that model. LOL
Greddy TTs give me the hardest time..APS TT...not so much! LOL

^ nice car bro. Yeah i have the V2 and not the new V3.
I made those #'s on a dynometer... IDK.
Anyways, getting retuned with a bunch of new stuff.. well see what my #'s are after that.

yeah its fun enough with the stock block. I am just buying a bunch of oil consumption motors and then blow them up having fun... I have a little blow by now and Im like...whatever! lol
I dont daily drive (I dont ever drive) my car now so oil consumption is the least of my worries. Add with the oil pan spacer I drive for at least 1000 miles with no worries with boost. lol
thanks, not trying to thread jack...Work Varianza T1s 20x9.5F(255/30) and 21x10.5 (295/25)

if I am wrong someone please correct me. I love this thread....lol.... but I think the SC vs the T is that the T has full boost at like 2K rpm vs the SC still has the same Si gradual increase with PRMs?

T trim doens't have "full boost" at 2k.
it's rpm dependent like all other superchargers. It builds boost faster than others by design but still has a progressive boost curve.

Guys should i get the 93" belt or the 93.5" belt (that came with kit) for the 3.12?
Napa part #'s
25-060930 = 93 inch belt
25-060935 = 93.5 inch belt
Unless you know of a better belt.

stock size should work fine for a pulley 1 size smaller than stock. it did on mine at least. If you know 93" would fit then i would use it. I'm not sure how much slack is there with the 93.5 so i cant say if a 93 will work.

I have the rev up with 2.87 and I used the 93. the belt is going to stretch
its tight. I just remove the top left pulley add the belt then reconnect...lol
lol at your location. I drive through there all the time man. Stayed at a hotel right off 70 and went to that club/bar right there....lol picked up a few chickas with my boy...lol I am from Alton, IL, the Lou is my roots!
thanks, I had a buddy who had the t trim on and the bypass feature (shhhhhhhh) that I get at 4500rpms he gets at like 2K rpms.... he really didnt know too much about cars though. lol
just got my bracket back from the shop..they said 3 weeks until they could get me in, so I am dropping it back in myself.
look for blown motor thread soon. I just picked up that long block too...DOH! I think the 2.87 and the T Trim will be a beast but short lived.
