i'm sorry about it too but that's life i guess. i never let anyone touch my car so i figured i could trust a certified tuner.....guess not.

anyways, water under the bridge. It's all buttoned up and ready to go. I get to fire it up tomorrow. hopefully i don't have any oil leaks. i can't deal with re-doing that timing cover again! lol

The license obviously has already been paid for. So what else do I need to plug my laptop in to start loggin and learning some things. You use a laptop with osiris interface right?

Also you doing the over or under "revised setup"

tylerfox is selling me an extra cog pulley he had. Now that you say, maybe i had that belt too tight which caused the pulley to seize.

Finally, when you say a 1/4 in slack. A 1/4 in what direction? I'm a little confused
oh, if you're reving to 7300 then your drive pulley is slipping for sure.

i'm using the gtm over the top pulley mod. that's the standard: 1 pulley.

If you have an osiris flash then you need to purchase the cipher cable and the osiris "TUNER" upgrade. Tuner upgrade allows you to modify things yourself with a laptop. You can datalog with just the cipher cable if you want but it doens't record boost pressure and if you're 03-04 it won't record wideband.

when someoen says 1/4" slack or "xx slack" in a belt you grab the belt in the middle of the longest section of belt (on the cog pulley this would be the bottom section that the tensioner is not touching) and you move it up and down. it should move back and forth "1/4").

again, do this when it's hot because it will tighten like crazy after it warms up and 1/4" cold is way too tight.

Should the serpentine belt be "1/4" slack also?

and you are running this setup right?

Good luck on the startup!!!

lol, i actually haven't tried that method i made up yet. i'm using the original "revised" belt layout from vortech with a standard gtm pulley mod.

for tightness of the serpintine: with belts warm find the longest straight stretch of belt and try to twist the belt upside down. With 2 fingers you should be able to twist the belt 90-180 degrees. I keep mine so i can only twist is 90 degrees. That should be plenty tight.

Then clean off all the belt dust and go drive for a few days and get into boost. Occassionally check to see if you have belt dust. You'll have a little dust, but if you noticed a lot of dust collecting the belt is slipping more than it should.

I got a reply back from Rob at Zcargarage... apparently they are not willing to ship the filter for the BPV.

Is anybody close to Zcargarage that would be willing to pick one up and ship it? I would be willing to compensate you for your time!

Believe it or not, you get used to it after a while. I thought it was really loud at first also. Now I don't even notice it at all.

eh, coolant issue now. i got a mile down the road and it started overheating. I pulled the thermostat and it worked fine when i boiled it but i still don't trust the parts store thermostat. I'm putting my old oem nissan one back in and i ordered a spill free funnel to bleed. I think i had an air pocket keeping the thermostat from opening even though i bled it for over an hour.

this car is killing me

FALSE!
I actually went the opposite way. At first it didn't really bother me but the longer I have been SC'ed the more annoying it gets!

Have any of you guys tried the filter made by Vortech? Vortech says it drops the sound 3 disciples which is pretty good. I have mine but car is in for heads and high flows today so i dont yet know how effective it is.

Next week after tune i will chime and let u guys know what i think.

I'm actually going to try rerouting mine into the intake as a recirc.

Hex- probably doesn't help I have a roadster and it's top down season.

I purchased the filter. Have not tried it out yet. The new engine goes in this week so I will have the filter put on then. I will update you guys with my results.

From what I have read I am not as optimistic about the filter from Vortech. But hopefully I will be proven wrong.

That's true Stan. Having a roadster with the top down probably does make it a bit louder.

I've got a fantastic welder here in Vegas now, so I am going to meet up with him soon to get this all done. Shouldn't be too difficult...
