Sorry if this isn't so much Vortech related as just general Tuning, but curious if anyone has a good suggestion for IAT install with the kit. I've deleted the MAFS and completely spaced about the IAT.

I wondered about using the stock IAT, removing it from the MAFS and somehow integrating it. That or Getting the Haltech IAT and installing it.

Maybe this is a silly question, but where can I install the IAT, does it HAVE to be in the Intake before the Throttle? OR can I just hook into the Manifold or whatever?

It can be after the TB. I think a few members put them into the plenum so they can get an accurate IAT for meth/h2o injection systems.

If you are using the OEM ecu you will have to make sure the aftermarket IAT sensor matches the same curve as the OEM or the readings will be off.

Thanks Jeff, I'm using the haltech, I've heard the calibration haltech gives isn't always accurate so I'll cross check it with an infrared I guess to ensure good calibration?

Good to know I can use manifold side, not sure how welding an aluminum bung on the charge pipe would go.

Finally on and running though! Just need winter to end so I can pull it off blocks!

so im having a little trouble with fuel pressure and was just wondering for those with a FRS what your idle fuel pressure was set to. i have heard many things from 42-58 just wondering what the norm was in the vortech community. thanks!

Hey unrelated but shouldn't your tensioner pulley for the cog belt be on the outside of the belt not the inside?

Yup!

Posted the wrong pic good eye. I was messing with the custom inlet pipe in that pic, the coupler was to close to the cog belt so it was just dangling there. Got it all squared away though!

Stock is around 52psi. Set it to wherever you want. Most set it close to stock with no boost reference so it will be down in the 40's when idling and the boost reference hooked up.

Tune the car to whatever fuel pressure you set and it will be fine. If you have enough fuel pump you could run a little higher pressure giving you more headroom on the injectors. I run 65psi base pressure in order to get more out of my 1000cc injectors. Running it that high is a little trick on the idle section though.

Hi guys, help a bro from accross the pond.
First off I have got a vortech V2 T trim tuner kit with is going on my stock revup up block. I have an extensive list of supporting mods which are about to ship to me but I can't decide on belt sizes.

I am going to use the fluidampr crank pulley (6.25") and a 2.87 cog pulley setup, so what Gates belt sizes do I need to get this puppy nice and snug. Anyone has this setup?

I have read this FAQ from the beginning last year when I got the kit and many other vortech related threads and have learnt loads thanks to all contributors.
Timrod posted about some super strong belts but the interest died out. Are these belts readily available? Any pointers? Don't want to post a new thread. May pm the great man himself.

Finally any suggestions for the belt setup to start with? Is the GTM pulley mod worth it? I have witness the bracket flex under load and think if this can be supported towards the blower end it should reduce a lot of belt snap issues other than over tightenning any one thought the same or attempted this?

You will spin the blower at 53k rpm with that combo of pulleys.
I got 9psi and 412whp spinning at 39k with stock pulleys V2-T
Are you building the bottom end at the same time?

Why are you going with a smaller dia than stock on the crank pulley? Isn't stock 6.78"? Wouldn't going slightly larger on the crank spin up the blower pulley faster?

Fluidampr is 6.125"

ATI is 6.61"

Ahh, thanks... Must have gotten it mixed up with what I am going with.. I went with a ATI - 918588 which is 6.78"

The outside diameter of the ATI is 6.78, as you say; the inside diameter (where the belt mounts with the pulley) is 6.61, per ATI...for impeller calculations, I would use the inside diameter...

(BTW, the values I posted in my earlier post are all inside diameters)

Hmm, thanks for the info... I don't that inner dia anywhere on this chart for the 6.61 so I would have been using that 6.78 measurement for me figures.

You're right, it isn't on their website; in fact there is a whole thread where the some Z veterans had to call up the manufacturers (ATI, Fludampr) to get those inner diameter values; its an interesting read with a lot of pertinent info for supercharger guys who care about impeller speeds and crank pulleys, etc:

I got the v3 for my 2003 z got it all put on an noticed I don't have the piggy back harness so I called vortech to get one an they said that they have lots of complaints with the piggyback ecu on Canadian 350z so I just wanted to no if I run the car with out or do I have to get a stand alone ecu injectors bigger fuel pump an tuned witch is $$$$$$ or could I an ecu from a USA 350 put it in my car an buy the piggyback from vortech?? If anyone can help that be great Thanks

Do not drive without a tune of some sort...you don't necessarily need a standalone, you can do fine with an Osiris tune; hopefully you have Osiris tuners in your neck of the woods...
