Hi!
Does anybody knows how much boost is supposed to be generated in an rpm range (ie 2800,3500,4000,4700,5500,6000,6450) using a 3.12" pulley?
RPM BOOST
2800 = ?
3500 = ?
4000 = ?
4700 = ?
5500 = ?
6000 = ?
6450 = ?
I know its supposed to be making around 8-10psi aprox in 6000-6500rpm but im in aprox 6psi no leaks and with new bearings and shaft seals, the only thing I havent changed is the impeller that looks perfectly fine. No leaks in the plenum, compression test in between 145-150 al cylinders. Going crazy with this problem. Any help will be highly appreciated!

No belt slip, other mods are AAM plenum spacer, 7mm manifold spacer, Motordyne MREV 2 lower plenum, 550 RC injectors, AEM FI/C, High flow cats, injen cat-back, exedy clutch, nismo flywheel, unorthodox crank pulley, etc.... first dyno was 349 whp with 3.33" now 320 with bigger injectors and smaller pulley (3.12")
Any ideas?

you have to be overlooking something. post up a log of your boost pressure vs rpm. I want to see if it's flattened out. If it flattens out then you have a leak or belt slip. Plane and simple no way around it.
ok so, here is a picture of the log in AEMTUNER, is first, second and third gear full throttle...upper graph is engine load (atmospheric pressure here is 12.9), lower graph is engien rpm.
- All the work was made in a professional shop...I just arrived from the shop, we have checked all the installation 4 times, still no leaks anywhere, thats why we are doubting of the impeller, maybe its damaged, what do you guys think? thats one of the reasons why i want to know if someone with a similar setup has info on how much boost is produced vs rpm....

I have an impeller for sale if you're interested...pm me if interested...

hey guys my buddy has hr dual throttle body 07 z and is interested in a vortech...do they make a kit for the dual intake? if not can he change his plenum to a single tb and if thats possible what year plenum is compatible...thanks hes been buggin the **** out of me.

that graph looks bad. You actually arent' hitting 6psi except for one quick blip on that second pull. The others appear to be about 4psi max.
If it's the impeller you can take the filter off and visually check. You will definitely see some big damage to it for that loss of pressure. I'm not sure the resolution on that but with .1 second resolution on my logger it is a smooth solid line. You shouldn't be all jittery like that. that's like its' getting pulses of air which makes me think major belt slip. anytime you get little plateau's like that it is some kind of pressure leak but it's not a constant leak which leads me more towards a belt slip. belt slips usually slip, grab, slip, grab, like that which would cause plateaus and dips.
how tight are the belts? at the longest portion of the belt you should grab it with 2 fingers and twist the belt on its axis. When doing that you should only be able to twist it past 90 degrees. If you can twist it all the way over (180 deg) it's way too loose. It should be tight like a guitar string (and make noise when you pluck it). It's supposed to be VERY tight. I can barely get mine to 90 degrees when i try to twist it and that stopped my belt slip. It's crazy tight compared to any belt i've ever tightened in my life.
also, that shop should have the tools to disconnect the blower and pressure test the piping. It should hold 10psi of boost without any leak off whatsoever.
a lot more boost than that. when i get home here in a bit i'll put up a graph of what mine is putting out which will be slightly different but youll get the idea.

The shop did a pressure test on all the piping...even tested the intercooler, no leaks at all, I was there seeing the test on each individual pipe. We tested everything to 10psi, only found a very small leak in the plastic tube where the maf is attached to, with 10psi in the tubing, we lost it in about a minute or so....they corrected that little leak...they also tested the whole plenum, no leaks, we went a little further and did a compression test, also everything was in good condition with 145-150 on each cylinder, we tested each injector, everything ok also...the belt makes a sound (like a guitar string jaja) much less than 90 degrees....whatelse is there to check, I'm seriously going crazy....its been 15 days with the car at the shop....we even changed the belt to a gates then to goodyear gatorback belt and nothing...changed bearings, seals on the blower....the only thing i haven't changed is the car! :P jaja

hmm, i hope you don't mean they took each pipe off and tested it for leaks. They should leave the entire system on the car as it is and only hook up a pressure port to the first pipe right after the supercharger. that will test the piping as it is installed in the car.
and when they had it out, did they do a visual check on the impeller?
try tightening the BPV screw all the way down so it forces the bpv to stay closed no matter what. That will eliminate a possible problem at the bpv. If you do a pull that way DO NOT push teh clutch in at the end of the pull. Just rev it up then let the engine bring the rpms down. You actually won't have to put a load on it to check since the system will be closed. You can do a light free rev and the boost should go up.
So if I get a shop to install it how much do you think they'll charge in labor?
$1500?
$2500?
thanks
the price will vary by location, but $800-$1,500 seems to be the going rate out here in Cali.
FWIW, a vortech install isn't that hard, but some parts of the install can seem overwhelming if you've never messed around under the hood. If you have a mechanically inclined buddy or two that's willing to lend a hand, I say go for it.

bigc, the boost is the top of that chart he posted. subtract 12.9 from the numbers to get boost pressure.
in reguards to the bpv threads, that really won't make a difference because once you step on the throttle and it's closed, it's closed. 7 threads out won't keep it from closing and cause a boost leak. Hell, last fall my screw came completely out and was gone and i didn't even know it.
