I have realized something during my installation: I don't have the black MAF tubing that Vortech originally supplied with the kit. Does anyone have an extra one, or what options do I have, short of buying one from Vortech?

Hey guys,

Lately, I have been doing long trips with my vortech G every weekend (300 miles each way), and it seems that the typicall vortech whine is now louder.
Nothing is wrong with the performance, same, however, the whine is louder at all times even days after the trip.
Does it mean that the blower is getting close to the times it needs to be rebuilt? Would the BPV needing to be rebuilt be what's causing it?

Thanks

Hard to say unless we hear the noise, but its likely you will need,as you said, either a blower rebuild or a BPV rebuild...my money its probably a bpv rebuild...

Anyone with PCV experience with the Vortech? Is it capable of clearing enough positive pressure? I'd assume not at higher RPM when boost comes up and Blow by comes up also, plus no vacuum pulling gases out of the PCV.

I know the Turbo guys have done PCV drilling, etc to allow more air, just curious what everyone is doing with the SC's on this car.

The idea came up to run from the PCV to a catch can, then from the catch can into the Intake Pre-Supercharger (filter side). My concern is that the vacuum in that location might be WAY too high which could create a very negative pressure in the crankcase, especially at higher RPM where the Supercharger is 'pulling' air in at a large rate.

What have you guys tinkered with here?

OK, quick question: is the black MAF tubing that vortech uses, the same one that's used on the OEM intake, or is it a different piece?

thanks; i did download them, but it wasn't too clear (meaning, my comprehension sucks). After looking at it more, as well as looking at other bays w/ the vortech, is when it finally clicked in my feeble mind.

Ok. Just got to install injectors and tap for the oil return, then I'm done!

Oh. And run the piping from the blower to the Intercooler. That's a pain in the ***

yup sounds like limp mode, (hopefully).
Try pulling codes, and yes we need to know if you're running the SS box.

Yes I'm running on the SS Box, if the shop connect it right.
I found the problem that the cob pully is touching and hitting the intake pipe and cut a deep cut on the pipe, so I took the pipe off and re-adjust it, still the clearance between the pully and pipe is not much. The car start up normal and rev to normal RPM.
But everytime when I'm going above 60mph there is a weird squeezing noise and the fast it go the louder it get, which if I rev up at neutral, I won't heard that noise.
Not sure where the noise came from, belt not tight?

I can't think that would cause your specific issue. Obviously it's a problem, but just don't personally thingk it'd cause that.
Clearly the install wasn't done well so I'd be looking things over a lot closer or taking it back to whoever installed it.

So finally got most of the problem fix, other than the Engine check light is on.
The Code reader read P1136 and U1000, I can't find U1000 but P1136 is IVT control solenoid valve.
Any idea? =\

question: is there an easy way to replace the cog belt, or do I have to remove the entire bracket and/or supercharger to replace the cog belt?

just loosen the tensioner pulley and remove the belt by sliding it towards the firewall.

anyone know of any shops in SoCal that would be able to change my cog pulley on the blower? Apparently, my lack of research led me to install the entire vortech, before realizing that A) the cog pulley on rev-up vs non-revup are different sizes, and B) the same pulley needs to be 'flipped' on rev-up vs non-revup motors. I tried caling Corner 3, GTM, Evasive, Technosquare, but no one can see me till next week.

why cant you change it yourself?

the brackets are completely different, so theres no way you installed a rev-up kit on a non-revup motor.

+1 on DIY...you just need a few wrenches and a strap wrench to hold the pulley still.
