Something about the oil return line not being able to catch up with the feed line.

So by adding the cats it suppose to create more back pressure.

If you guys want to ask MRC about their theory go right ahead.
I got it from them and thats what they suggested
I'll second that installing cats is worth a try. I had the same symptoms on my JWT kit, heavy white smoke on decel - very embarassing. Just cruising around I could always smell oil burning but only saw smoke on decel and occasionally when coming to a stop. I installed the factory cats and viola, smoke went away and no oil smell at all. I'm trying some hi-flow cats next to see if the smoke stays away as the factory cats are too power restricting.

Good luck with yours.

btw, I don't subscribe to the theory that cats eat oil, I believe it has to do with backpressure on the turbo hot side.

Is Zivman, SBC, and failsafe the only APS TT's on the board that had a bad turbo right out of the box?

Or were they having a blow by problem which cause a bad turbo? IE driving it too much with burning oil..

I just want to see if bad turbos out of the box are common in APS kits.

Not common, but definitely possible.

You need to pull the exhaust off and determine which side(s) are smoking and go from there

Your symptoms look very, very similar to mine (brand new kit, smoking like it is going out of style) however I won't be able to confirm the issue for a bit since the car will have to be sent back down to GTM.

Update, APS is now recommending a oil control solenoid. Not sure how it works but it controls the flow of oil into the turbos. Anyone hear of such a thing?

Abishop, just curious if you have a catch can in place and what kind of exhaust you have (true dual?).

Hi, how did you solve the smoking problem? I have the same problem, it smokes when accelerating and decelerating. I'm from the Czech Republic, thanks for the answer
