Sorry, I was talking about two different things.

1.) WG - according to the box it came in, I am running a .4 bar spring. I'm going to bump it up to the .5 bar since the boost reference is coming off of the compressor housing instead of the intake manifold (so the WG is opening even earlier than the stock setup), and I don't want to overwork my BCS.

2.) BOV - I'm going to try some lighter springs in the BOV just to experiment. But like athenG said, it probably won't make much of a difference.

So, I started playing around with the boost map for the TXS BCS. Well, I'm now getting wastegate flutter. I'm running the .4 bar wg spring and have the boost reference hooked up to the compressor. You think the wastegate is now too reactive since the opening of the wastegate will cause an immediate impact at the compressor vs. referencing boost just before the throttle body?

I actually ran a 1/4 hose to the back already in anticipation of switching over the reference source.

I had that problem too when I had my .4 bar spring and couldn't hold boost after 5500rpm. I switched to the .5 bar and that fix my problem. It is worst in your case since you are using the compressor as your reference. Try using your manifold and see if it improves..

Last race of the season and guess what.....My cats blew out and scatttered crap through the turbo..... Car still runs but really crappy. Car is going to the shop on the trailer this week.....I'll give a full update on the pit falls of a blown cat with this set-up soon. Wish me luck. PS. At least I now have an excuse to get high flow cats....and I still posted fastest time of the day at AutoX.

goosegoose blew his HFC cat too and the mid pipe pretty much caught all the shattered parts. Not sure if the HFC will hold coz that thing didnt even last that long with goosegoose but then again he boosting 14psi. Bite the bullet and get the TP, majority of the Turbo cars don't have Cat anyways...lol Cali FTL...

Cali is a bummer that's why I kept the cats....My shop is looking into some solid steel HFC's that are "blow proof"...I'll keep the STS crew updated. BTW: I don't think turbo is toast but I do have ceramic dust all over the exhaust tips.

if you are not getting weird vibrations or harmonics(on and off boost)your impeller probably made it through the storm.subi guy's are used to this they have a cat in front of the turbo stock.on a cold motor(very cold!)you can put your hand on the turbo and feel for shakes and shimmy's while someone powerbrakes the car.if you got e'm,the impellers toast.

Thanks for the tips....I'm not going to risk more damage at this point....Think I'll just let the pro's handle it from here.

Damn, that sucks about the cats. I think I'm going to swap out my HFC's for test pipes. I do have the metallic HFC's though - do those hold up any better?

So I contacted TiAL to see how much wastegate/BOV springs are - holy *****! $27 a spring!

Metallic HFC's hold up better, but I blew mine out last year. If you must have a CAT, the Motordyne XYZ pipe with HFC option may be a good choice.

Since my town doesn't require emissions, to play it safe I'll just go with test pipes. I would love to get the XYZ pipe, but it's quite pricey.

What do you guys recommend again for test pipes? I need something cheap. I'd like to get ones that have two extra bungs welded in though so I don't have to head to the exhaust shop. I think maybe the only ones that have that are the Berks, although they don't have the support tabs on them.

On a stock motor, 2.25" ID test pipes seems to spool the best. On a stock motor 2.5" ID test pipes have been known to hurt spool speed. I'm going to email you.
