FYI NX sells a CO2 cooler system , the loop mounts in front of the IC.
http://www.nitrousexpress.com/welcome.htm
However; make no mistakes, this type of system
"DOES NOT USE N20" , it uses CO2.
The introduction of N2O "without a fuel shot" in the proximity of the air cleaner could be catastrphic. I have heard stories of a few unfotunates, Toooooo Lean, Melt-down, party over.
I assume what MaxHax is referring to is that he will add a legitimate small shot of N20 + Fuel via his standard WET N2O System. A "side benefit" of a WET N2O + FI is the addtional "intercooling" effect.

For a drag race, chilling the intercooler with N2O or CO2 would definitely do the trick.
For general running the car around maybe an external water spray would be your thing. I've been reading up on this stuff a lot lately and found a very promising Intelligent Intercooler Water Spray Controller Module that's not wasteful of water so it requires a smaller reservoir yet is effective. Here's a five page article detailing what led them up to creating this and how it'll help.
Water injection. That Aquamist system by ERL (Interex) looks to be the top notch system. The people at ERL have been very supportive of the community as well. Surbaru WRX owners have a great thread at NASIOC ongoing detailing their adventure in WI.
If that isn't enough information overload you could check out this link as well which has an interesting graph (attached or link if attach fails) which illustrates that at the higher boost levels less fuel is actually needed because it no longer has to be dumped into the cylinder for the purpose of cooling (which the water injection is now doing) and just produce power.

Yeah I have a WET kit and cooler plugs too.
I do not know of anyone running a dry kit on our Z's but I guess anything is possible.
Go NX down with ZEX!
Hey man! I love Doug and Crawford and TN in general great people and I have Doug's Plenum and STB. That being said
I have to disagree about an intercooler being bad for a 'daily driver.'
Not to start a HUGE debate on Intercooling but I also disagree that it's placement blocks cooling too much too. Where else they have put it? We wanted FI we got it!
"heatsinks" pull heat from other parts. In 110 degree weather the whole engine would be a heatsink wouldn't it?
Many cars come stock w/SCers now and are driven reliably on a daily basis Ford and Pontiac come to mind.
On LS1's there is no way for air to enter the engine from the front it enters *from the bottom* of the car and they sadly run cooler than our cars unless they have a scooped hood witch cost extra. That's why I put a SS hood on my Z28!
---------
I will be running a 40- 50 "ish" (inside joke) shot for 'intercooling' but I have two jets, one for N20 one for fuel. N20 w/o fuel creates heat, heat melts plugs you are preaching to the choir hehe!
------
I still need a good lower temp thermostat and tranny cooler for anyone following this that is a vendor and isn't charging NISMO prices of $1200.00 for a 75 dollar cooler!
-------
as to N20 w/ the wrong amount of fuel causing damage and preaching to the choir tell ZEX that ; they have a new page strongly advertising their crap plugs , they don't return emails and I am switching to NOS!
My car Dyno's tomorow barring immenant or unavoidable disaster (bows head in prayer)
P.S. on that D Blue SC install photo with the light removed, do you race with your light out? Where did you get your SC and what numbers track/Dyno did you get? Maybe I missed it because I was following the install of a redline car and just caught this blue one. Oh yea, mines an Auto no clutch worries!
---
Weight;
It comes shipped at 90lbs so knock off est 10lbs from that?

An intercooler can actually act as your worst enemy for daily driving.

somebody correct me if i'm wrong.......on the subject of cooling.....i believe the fan is computer controlled, and will stay on until the proper temperature is achieved........so with an intercooler in front of the radiator, doesn't that mean that the fan will simply stay on longer?.......granted, if the fan is on all of the time without the proper temperature ever being reached, then i would think there was a problem to worry about.

Oh yeah - you do take a few things out - the stock idler pully and it's mounting bracket, a lower shroud bracket and the stock airbox and intake ducting so some of this nets out....

Bait =fish thnax fro posting all the WI info.
I have been a proponent of WI for many years both on NA and FI apps.
The only main issue I have with Aquamist (ERL) is that the pump is really not up to the task of higher displacement apps. Some have ned to resort to accumulators to provide the initital surge.
Their pump was was too small for a 4.7L SC app of mine. I opted for a 100PSI pump similar to that shown in the "gaseous intercooling link". I obtained this fron Kennedy's dynotune in NY.
At 3.5L and >10psi , I'm not sure if the ERL pump will have enough capacity , but I will probe around.

Well, I'm in the game. I got my kit today. The install begins tomorrow. Starting with 7 psi, then possibly adding either CO2 or water injection to further cool the intercooler. Then the trip to Altered Atmosphere for tuning of the ECU and larger injectors and 10 psi. Later on different rods and pistons at 8.5:1 compression, then 18 psi. Here we go !
Comcast bought ATT and royally messed up my Network and they are history on 8-6-03 when Surewest puts a Fiber Optics Gateway in my attick, no more Cable and no more Comcast.
Good riddance, this is ridicoulous I'm running at about 2400bps on a Cable connection
OT I know but frustrating.

i believe the fan is computer controlled
Then the 2nd fan kicks on when the AC is turned on *or* it reaches stage 2 temps say 210 degrees.
IMHO if your engine is above 200 degrees both fans should be turning. I have seen both of mine turn with the AC off but haven't really followed when they come on, if they *both* are always on etc. I do know they are computer controlled very light electric fans and very nice, we have pulled mine out more than once for the Pulley debacle.
That is what is so great about Hypertech (I know, I know) you can adjust *both* fans indepently by temp or have them correspond with your stat.
So if you put in a 160 degree thermostat (which basicly means always on in the summer ha-ha) then fan one kicks on at 160 degrees then fan 2 kicks on at say 190 degrees.
Right now we have NO control! WE NEED a handheld PNP ECU to address crap like this and TORQUE MANAGEMENT!
Is this thing on Nissan? testing 1,2,3
TM is crap! Phhhttt.... I am going to have to wire a switch to my brake fuse on/off which just seems ridicolous to me for a 400HP car just to do a burn out to heat my tires.
Paulo,
Where did you ger larger injectors for the Z, who makes them and how much.
A link etc.
TIA!
Using the "Autospeed Intelligent Controller" may be just the ticket to turn on the second Fan (if not water spray) to something like:
- 2nd fan kicks on when the AC is turned on *or* it reaches stage 2 temps say 210 degrees *or* the Intercooler Temperature differential is (x).
- 2nd fan kicks on when the AC is turned on *or* it reaches stage 2 temps say 210 degrees *or* the Intercooler Temperature differential is (x).
MaxHax,
I belive that I will be running the same setup as you minus the crawford plenum. Borla headers and exhaust, and custom cat pipe
Altered Atmosphere is installing my kit on the 11th and I would love to see how the numbers compare. If the plenum makes hp, crawford can sign me up.

True duel.
If all goes as it should i will posting up some numbers by mid afternoon
P.S i will Post some pics of it on the dyno tommorow.
