Yes this is my first step into boosting a car. Most i've done before hand is brakes, tires, audio, cold air intakes, shocks minor things. i mean I have friends that could do the labor for me for minor cost. The car im able to get at the great price which left me with enough money to actually start this new direction i want to go. I don't really want to get more than 15k deep into this is I don't have to I was hoping to go no more than 12k. So if you can give me any advice on where to go from here and from what your saying i'd be better off with a single turbo. Which immore than fine getting ahold of one that is a complete kit. Like I said I want to ht the 400hp mark and actually be able to lay down 400hp with a turbo. So let me know where to go from here as the cash is ready for me to start buying the parts. Even if I run out of cash for labor I want to have all the parts on hand so when it's time I can just get it done. I've already looked at complete kits and im willing to throw down 6-8k on the single turbo kit. Labor I planned 2-3k for that so im at my 12k limit with that. If I have to bump it to 15k I will. So let me know what I need besides a full single turbo kit

Kit - 6,000
Stand alone - 2,000
Tune - 1,000ish
Little random things - 5-700
Gauges - 5-800 depending on brand
Exhaust - 800+
BBK - 1,000+

Thats off the top of my head and none of that includes labor. If your getting a Z in good condition with low miles, spend that money on legit wheels and suspension for around 6,000 you can have a hella clean/sexy Z with all the suspension upgrades imaginable using SPL,Stance, etc good quality parts.

Trust me if you go that route you'll thank me and others on here for doing that instead of boost.

Buy a 240 and learn from it before modding the Z bc parts on a Z are not cheap.

Default FI questions and build

so im new to the 350 community I have an 04 z 55k miles it has hks hi power full titanium exhaust, nismo cold air and the motor dyne 5/16 plenum spacer. ive been reading a few forums and every one seems to say build by parting it together. as in all the forums ive read everyone has beat their heads at the name godspeed... let me start off by first stating I do not want their turbo.. RESTATE- I DO NOT WANT THE TURBO!!!! what I am looking to do is get the piping kit from them. my brother runs their kit minus the turbo as well in his 240 that is an 11 second car. it is fully built... now my question is is the piping kit worth anything to throw a good turbo on. keep in mind im not looking to have huge power increase I would only like to run a couple pounds of boost to add just a little more to what I already have. I know there have been other threads on this matter but none that I have seen has given any real insight into the kit with a different turbo on it. please constructive input only. money really isn't an issue im just curious as to the thoughts on the piping rather than forking out extra thousands if its not needed.

My personal opinion...I would just get a complete kit instead of piecing it together. Not necessarily a Godspeed kit ( I don't know anything about them ), but a good kit. Just seems like more of a hassle piecing it together.

From what I've read in various threads, the piping sucks and won't even connect properly without modification/fabrication. Also, the wastegate is poor quality and is unreliable. By the time you fix the piping, upgrade the turbo, upgrade the wastegate, and upgrade the blow-off valve... you'll realize that you would have been better off getting another higher quality turbo kit in the first place.

You better hurry up and buy. They posted on the 350Z facebook page that they are only going to make suspension related parts from now on. But everything I have ever read about their turbo kits is that they fit like crap.

Default Questions about a turboing my 350z...

Let me preface this paragrapgh: I havent done any modding to a 350z and im not familiar with the tunning or modification of one, so I dont really know what im talking about.
I recently purchased a 350z and I had some questions about tuning. My brother is getting rid of his old gt30 turbo charger and swapping it for a gt35 and he is going to give the gt30 to me. I was wondering if the 350z is even compatible with this part and if so if I run it on a medium or even a lower boost will I need to replace the headers or get low compression pistons? A part list for the conversion ( if its even feasible) would be extremely helpful. I have done research and this is sort of my last resort because I cont find any info on the subject.

Thanks a bunch.

The short of it...no.
The long of it is either peicing together a turbo kit...or buying a turbo kit and use the gt30....which I wouldn't.

The longer part of this answer is, with your lack of technical savvy (and likely less mechanical skill), there's little chance of success with such a project. You really need to build the VQ shortblock and fabricate many parts to run your brother's used turbo (which probably needs a rebuild BTW). Since the 350Z is most likely your DD and you're not dripping with money, it's a misplaced dream.

Get to know your Z, don't %$^& it up.

Gt30 will work. You just have to swap a sr20det into the car first. Then slap that gt30 turbo on and enjoy.

Please try to forget about boosting the Z and just enjoy the power it has! Boosting the Z is for those with $ and time to burn!

Well that was pleasant, the best thing is to set your goal. Then build with that in mind.
