Default Can i drive home?

I just had a vortech supercharger installed w/ cjm stage 1 return fuel, walbro and 440cc injectors and utec w/ map sensor put in. I have scheduled for a tune later this week. In the mean time, i need to get the car home. Can i drive the car home, with the cog belt off, so i don't go into boost and Driving it very easy.

Thanks!

you could even drive with the belt on. as long as you dont get into boost its fine. dont expect great mileage though, but as long as you keep it in closed loop it shouldnt be too bad (mileage)

My car/utec isn't tuned and set to Map 0. The drive home is about 20 miles. So it would be fine to drive home?

IIRC, the base map is good only to get your car home and/or to a shop for a tune. Just keep the rpms low and don't hit boost.

Map 0 is running off the stock ECU, as though the UTEC is not connected at all. Without any air being forced into your engine, you should be fine.

The UTEC manual says you cannot use map 0 if you have larger then stock injectors.

But I dont see why not, it will probably just run pig rich.

Oops forgot about that little issue. If you have cats, running rich will burn them up. If you have test pipes, you'll just be really stinky. In a week, I don't think you'll damage your plugs...

You will be fine just driving home and to the shop who tunes it.Just dont get into any boost as that is what i was told after i installed my greddy twins.I will say it was a slow drive to my tuner but afterwords it was all smiles.

If the belt is still connected, how can the OP avoid boost on a SC? It's RPM driven. Take the belt off if ya wanna stay outta boost.

It doesn't build boost unless you really get on it.

youre a little confused on it. youre right that it is RPM dependent, but its only RPM dependent under high throttle conditions. under partial throttle, the boost is more load dependent
