Smoke from exhaust during Warm up and acceleration! Need Input!
For a couple of weeks I have noticed when warming up the car (first firing it up from hours at rest, ex: overnight) the exhaust releases a lot of smoke. A LOT. Once the car is warmed up the smoke amount becomes minimal at idle and at times disappears. Friends driving behind have noticed that upon acceleration they do notice smoke coming out when the car is rolling. Color of the smoke to me is grayish/white, friends describe it as gray smoke. I do smell a lot of odor from the exhaust, more than usual since this started. Friends driving behind me also claim an odor to be present with the smoke.
Car runs fine. Hits full boost as always.
Only other symptom since smoke started is that when firing it up the exhaust (6 of 10 times) will produce a sound similar to a car backfire, a loud pop. It also does this sound when slowing down occasionally.
Any input?

Sounds like you running rich if you getting backfire when starting up.
I had the same issue with my old car where i would get a bluish/white smoke when i first started and acceleration.
Turned out it was the piston rings.
Sounds like you might have a combination of issues there.
Possibly you running rich is washing away your rings.

If it's a burning smell, it's oil. Check your PCV valve. Could be turbo seals. Did you install a catch can recently? Hoses could've collapsed (if not high quality fuel injection hoses). What does your wideband read? Hard to dx remotely without more info...

Hmm........a lot of good points.
If it was the piston rings? What exactly is involved in fixing that? What parts? I'm just trying to see what it would run to prepare mentally. lol
Oh and NO, it is not a burning odor. Its more like a heavy exhaust odor or maybe even gasoline odor.

What size injectors are you using? I have the RC 750cc and with Utec, I sometimes got smoke at start up and idle. After that it's dissappear. My tuner said that extra fuel at start-up got burn that's why it smokes at start-up.

Could be fuel injectors stuck open? Wideband reading? Without some diagnostic data this is impossible to figure out over the Internet...
