My Build: The Good, The Bad & The Progress
#2284
Had a day of "meh" on Tuesday, I made the trip down to F:T to try and get my high idle issue resolved. Dave swapped ViPECs with another car, tried 3 different throttle bodies and no change. The mystery as to why the car is idling so high remains.
I was also hoping to leave with a higher redline and more power, but after attempting to fix the idle, the car had a crazy rich spot in the tune around 6K rpm. Dave got the car on the dyno and basically had to almost re-tune and the power was all over the place, up & down, with the boost curve changing vs the previous graphs and having to pull out a bunch of fuel up top.
We take the car on the street then and the problems shows up again under WOT pulls, more fuel taken out, both on and off the meth. The car seems stronger than ever now, based on wheelspin at speed and butt dyno, but nothing ever seems to go smoothly for me the first time. Redline is still set at 6500rpm

I believe the ViPEC is able to correct for temp changes, but Dave checked that and it was only ~10*F cooler in the shop vs previous runs.
He found that the fuel pressure at the regulator was up 10lbs from 50 to 60 for some reason. Either swapping the ViPECs caused a change, or when he put the pass side kick panel back on either a wire was pulled out or possibly given proper contact since it was almost like the extra fuel pumps came online with all the extra fuel.
I am glad the car is running more like normal now, but wish its could have been a straightforward fix and more power for a change. I'm sure it will be sorted out, but we ran out of time yesterday and I'm not ready to give up the car for a week or so right now.

I did not know that. I saw the pretty pictures in his thread and I thought he was all set. Issues with both builds on the VQ that have been publicized on the forum doesn't sound good for the ViPEC. Chris, I would strongly consider giving Dave the car for a few days to work out the issues 100%. You don't want to run into throttle or fuel pump control problems because of some minor issue that might be a quick fix. Price to pay being on the bleeding edge...

I thought Silvan Lake was having similar issues with high idle and VDC light?
Raj - Dave has been in contact this AM to check on the ride home and things seem fine. If the issue reoccurs I will take the car to him ASAP, I don't need anymore fail right now. As for the ViPEC, I'm not sure if any of the issues are related to it or not, but rest assured that I will post results regardless of what is found to be the cause.
Possible snow in the forecast for later this week, car might be done for the season regardless.... now where is that spare center console and those fiberglass door panels I got
