Gord - I got some specs on the ViPEC stuff today from Dave. Here is what he sent me this morning:

ViPEC is using a dual map auto boost with fuel and igition based on the Aquamist setting. Throttle, IAT, gear selection, and coolant temp monitored and controlling boost. Cam control, throttle control, launch control and anti-lag all hooked up and ready to go

Preliminary numbers (DD): 339whp @ 6psi - 92*F in the shop - no corrections.

At 6psi full boost at 3400rpm - 18psi at 4500rpm no whp yet, issue with boost control.

CONGRATS Chris! Awesome to hear. Dave called me this am to tell me about it and Im headed down there after I leave the office.

I told you so.

Sounds like you'll be running a lot of the same settings/functions Im running on my Autronic. You'll love it.

The T/C is a difficult one to set up b/c of the wheel speed sensors and outputs needed to properly work. FYI. We decided it wasn't even worth it with my set-up and have the factory TCS.

Its officially ALIVE! Congrats.

Setting up TC is a PITA for most systems and requires lots of time to truly get it right. Like I always say the best TC is your right foot...

A HUGE +1 on this. ESPECIALLY with gear based and throttle base boost control....it really makes it that easy.

In regards to boost control, I found that closed loop feedback would go haywire on both a Dynojet and on a Dyno Dynamics dyno (for the Haltech). When you dyno, you might have to use open loop. Then you have to road tune the closed loop boost control PID tuning. Might be similar for the VIPEC. I don't understand why closed loop boost control works so well on the street, but not on either dyno. If Dave figures it out or understands why this might be the case, please share!

WOOT!!! Thanks guys - let me know if there is progrees when you get there Robbie - figures that today is the only day this week that I can't make it down.

I'm not saying I need all the features, I haven't even seem the manual yet, so I have no idea how anything works. Agreed that TC is best with the foot, plus the EMS stepping in and out can cause more accidents than it prevents IMO.

Raj - I will let you know if Dave has some type of cure for the issue. Waiting for the next update from Dave.

Conrats Cass,
Get the car safely tuned and drive it around......figure out all the features later......
Just get out and enjoy it before you get annoyed by all the features lol.

No, he said end of the week, but I hope he's lying. That would onlygive me 3 days with the car before I leave on vacation . Not sure if its worth driving all the way to VA twice to drive the car for 3 days.

He has other customers this afternoon that are getting work done... other customers FTL.

Its 90% taken care of. Going to replace the slave cylinder, the problem is very intermittant, but mostly gone. I drove the car to Ocen City this weekend and had tons of fun and 3 runs with it. Good times...having it back out and messing around made me realize how much I miss it.

The features Dave has set up sound good Cass I hope you get your car for a few days before you leave.

We are setting up my T/C by engine RPM vs wheel speed in each gear for example we run the car and see speed/RPM (I am not sure how exact this has to be for every RPM) then set the traction control if the rpm goes above 500rpm over what it should be at that rpm it feathers the throttle not cut boost or timing. Basically it will be like feathing the throttle with your foot but the Vi-PEC will do the feathering I also plan on using the factory VDC switch so I can disable the traction control if I want. It might be time consuming to set up but (I think?) Vi-PEC will cover some of the cost because it would be to there advantage to have someone run the feature to show the potential of it. Anyway I would drive your car fow awhile then work on fine tuning down the road. I live 15min from the north American Vi-PEC training centre so its not that hard for me to get them my car when they have free time. I will let you know if its worth it when/if we get it working on my car.

The ViPEC has some neat features. I like the Quicktune function - pretty cool. In regards to traction control, you may want to check out the VIPEC forums. According to a post by Ray Hall (on 5/19/2009), traction control is still "a ways off". I'm not sure if ViPEC can integrate with the CAN bus and read the stock wheel speed sensors (to preclude buying and installing new sensors like XKR will be doing). I went browsing the forums looking for that, but found this thread instead:

http://www.vi-pec.com/forum/viewtopi...3&t=51&start=0

PS. Closed loop boost control is almost ready, but not quite there according to this post: http://www.vi-pec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=229

Update on the progress. The 2pm appointment did not show at F:T (the threatening e-mails may have worked ), so Dave just kept at it.

Boost issue has been resolved - still unknown what the cause and solution was, I have a source at the shop feeding me details now. The rave/techno music is cranked up and Dave is in the zone!!!

New numbers are:

492wph @16psi - low timing, 99.3*F in shop, no corrections on dyno.... oh, and no meth yet either

Well, the numbers are getting a bit crazy now.... IN A GOOD WAY!!!

I will refrain from posting about them until Robbie (Driven1) sends me a pick via cell phone to verify he isn't making things up!!!!

I'm in the 500whp club with no meth.... and in 4th gear.
