those domestic guys run SP' times all motor. Sadly, they'd get walked buy any of the dime a dozen domestic muscle racers with a 200 shot.

Thats why no imports make it to the sweet 16 on pinks all out, they just arent fast enough.

Like was mentioned, the bigger the event, the more red tape, more stress, less fun.

Not totally correct.....they can go 9.3's on motor yes but its all in the 60' for them.......none of them touch 158mph without some serious work.

SP themselves has a customer with a auto TT C5 vette, its going 9.2@154mph on a fully built 402 TT, built auto.

150shot vipers go mid 10's in the mid 130's.

Yes it takes less for anything with 350+ ci to make power/tq

I don't like pinks/pinks all out cause its a bracket racers thing.....

Thats why they are all auto's all same setup blah blah..

I've seen enough mustangs and camaros doing the exact same thing on the exact same setup.

They have only really shown one decent import car, the MK3 supra (again an auto). When Ryan Woon went with his 8sec 6spd MK4 supra, they came up w some BS to eliminate him.

Know of a local group from Chicago that was on the show in season 1, they were threatened by the producers to run or forfeit their cars to the show and have tons of legal action....it was 25 degrees out, had just snowed and was about to snow again.

They need a stick shift episode....make the driver do more
(and if they ever set one car out more than 7 spots, those cars shouldn't be on the same track together regardless)

Had a telecon today - going to have to form an LLC just for this event and its going to be a huge PITA because we have to work according to flight schedules but even working with that we might get kicked off (i.e. if a flight comes in off schedule [i.e. late] in the middle of our time slot, we all have to leave).

So... for me, at this time, at least one of 3 things have to happen for me to pursue this:

1. This is covered by SPEED
2. This is covered by Car and Driver
3. This is sponsored by Nissan USA

I'll look into all 3 and let you know (will take a few weeks).

If someone else (SPONSOR) wants to pick up the ball and run with it, let me know and I'll send them details. The airport is willing, actually welcoming, but we have to accept the cavaets and requirements.

Raj....if an "off scheduled" flight comes in....how bad can that be It does not take that long to land a plane. I assume we are not talking about a 757, 777,759 type jets

There is an airstrip in Michigan that has rented for a high speed event, I had actually planned on contacting them to look into organizing an event in 09'. I went ahead and sent them an email for more details on renting it. I also contacted the group that put the event on to inquire about their experience with that airport. It's a 3 mile long straighaway and 200' wide

I've been looking at and working on making some small additions to our car so we can run it in the mile, so I'm very interested in this event. I think I can get our car to the 22xmph range maybe even a tick more.

Let me know if there is anything we can do here at SP to either help facilitate the event or help organize.
Chris

I'm in. Can't wait to attend especially since I missed the last Airport run and the last 2 Z-day events.

Mike - not too many big planes, but schedules change and flights get late. I will look at the schedule and try to identify the most open slots.

Chris - appreciate the support. This airport has never put on an event like this, but they do have a marketing director that has hosted all sorts of events at the airport. They also have a spot for photoshoots and a helicopter service for aerial photography. The airport really wants to make this happen, but they are also looking for some reassurances that I'd rather leave to those ultimately funding the event. If you have any hard data from the Michigan event, it would be welcomed - stuff like insurance rates and budgets... because both this airport and I are "flying blind"...

So working on that...
