Proof work is being done. I installed my head studs and tourqued one head. the other head will get tourqued down tomorrow. I had a nut fail. Andrew is stronger than he looks and tourqued a nut into a twisted mess. More pics to come tomorrow. I hope I can get a new nut tomorrow. The Nissan HR headgaskets look like a big improvment in cooling and are very high quality. Only $60 for the pair. Very nice 2 ply gasket with a metal o-ring.

Hey Jet, Great opportunity to show what mod needs to be done to the HR headgasket to make it work properly for the DE motor. Can you snap some pics and share?

The CAMP II will be nice. I can't wait to see it.

More progress.... Slow but steady. Not much time available to work on it. The plan is to have the motor in By saturday the latest. Probably a little sooner.

That's a very special technique for delicate torquing.

The engine is all closed up except for the lower oil pan. Andrew had the idea to order -10 weld on bungs for the oil return lines and weld them onto the pan which was a good idea. We drilled the holes and had a mobile welder came over in his truck and welded them on for $20. Tomorrow the lower intake runners and fuel injectors/rails starter/clutch/trans/lower oil pan/turbos will bb going on tomorrow. Saturday is still looking good for the motor install.

Hi Larry:

Looks like the tune won't happen this weekend.

Let me know when you have it scheduled so that I can meet you down there. I have some parts to drop off and, while I'm there, I want to polish the back side of my timing chain cover to match the front.

Quadcam and I got alot done tonight. We mounted both turbo's and oil/water plumbing, ground down one of the motor mounts which needed to be done to get an intake pipe to fit correctly per the instructions. I closed up the bottom with the oil pan. Tomorrow we will be installing the clutch and trans and should be putting it in the car on Saturday.

The GTM kit is really nice. The oil and water hoses are pre-fabbed and are nice quality braided stainless with a plastic covering with the correct angle ends for a nice fitment. I haven't opened all the intake piping yet, but it is also very nice made with all stainless steel. It's heavier than aluminum but feels solid with nice welding and bends.

The instructions can use a little more detail. We ran into few problems along the way. Nothing we couldn't figure out. I am not sure if the instructions are actually finished yet. They have alot of detailed pics of the install and how everything should look. I think I might be the first person to install one of these outside of GTM or Forged.

The parts come in sealed packages which are easy to inventory. I was sent the first set of CNC milled front intercooler brackets which will be going on the car on Saturday. Will have pics of them then. The GTM kit is good stuff.

Hey Larry,

Glad you are happy with the kit Larry, the DE instructions aren't completed yet I think you are one of the first people to use them. If you have time send me an e-mail with the sections that need more clarification so I can make sure they are addressed properly.

Let me know if you need anything!

Hi George.... We have some suggestions for your instructions and we will put them down on paper and get them over to you as soon as we can. I think we have everything we need now. Thanks

thats a great idea to weld the AN fittings to the block. totally eliminated the possibility for leaks as well as the question if returning oil down low to a spacer is good/bad.

will be excited to see the pics of the turbo install! only a week away from the big date. You plan on using the track day as a motor break in? I guess thats one method

My engine machinist said a minimal break in is called for. He said 200mi and you will be fine to use it on the track. He said honetly when his motor was up to temp it was ready t ogo. He really doesn't believe in break in. I said I'd put 200mi on it forst. He said that's fine.

Thanks for the info! Last time I broke mine in for over 500 mi., and probably somewhere around 600 mi. A 200 mi. breakin will make it easier for me to ensure that I can make it to Z-days.

Larry is supposed to be shipping my shortblock to Japtrix today. Hopefully that will happen...
