Very possible. I just assume when we talk whp, we talk wheel torque. Makes sense no?

With the cracking, that has to do with the plasma coating.

It gets super hairy at that point. The aluminum blocks that are lined (like the vr38 and the f20c) can hold power, but are much more difficult to deal with during the honing process. Ask your local engine builders about it. (Oh and yes the f20's can hold boost. CHECK THIS VEETAK YO : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUFFudEJnjk)

I'll say this now, the only thing they can do, and should do is sleeve the blocks. A replacement liner is just too much work for little gain. Although a stronger liner (idk enough about the thermal/pressure properties of liners and materials in this context) and a 1/4 or 1/2 [block] fill would probably do the trick, it isn't a cost effective+streetable solution.

Would there be any performance gains using the VR38 MAF, and intake on a DE motor?

i know for sure GTM had plans to fit VR38 manifold on VQDE but not sure if they decide to go on or ditch this project ?

the problem is with the lower plenum is diffrent than ours if u can get it custom made then the factory plenum intake would work

wut reading comprehension ftl

A gtr uses 2 mafs which is why it can handle more airflow factory setup. Upgraded mafs are quite expensive (about a grand), and upgraded vq35 mafs are about 500 bucks (or less, idk I went haltech and purged useless maf info ). Either way the only restriction on the cheaper direct bolt on vq35 maf is the size of the maf 'housing'/tube. If you upgraded to a 3" (and metal) one you should be able to support 1000hp. At least that's roughly what uprev claims.
upgrading a maf won't net you power unless you are FI and having difficulties tuning. In which case you should get a better efi solution and switch to map

Sorry to drudge up a slightly old thread, but is there any parts of the VR38 we can use on the VQ35 to gain some power?

How much do the AMS kits cost to make it to low 9's or the switzer kits with equal power?

Yeah but I'm not talking just buying the kit. I'm thinking I drop the car off at their front door and they hand it back to me being able to get into the 9s. Whether it be switzer, ams, or any other company that can do that and do it with a a fair amount of reliability. Not that I plan to do this or have a GTR or anything but was just curious. Who knows maybe I will one day but curious as to what I'd be looking at.

I think your mistaken as to the 1/4 numbers. I just took a look at AMS's site and they have the alpha 10 kit and a video of it doing 9.1 in the 1/4. I don't know price though. If the Alpha 10 kit installed is at $20k though and I've seen the GTRs on ebay going for $55k on ebay that puts me at a total of $75k to make 9s. I spent that tho get into the 11's in my Z. Granted it was a full weight 350Z but so is the GTR. I wouldn't mind going that route if thats what they cost.

Our price: $63995.00 For Alpha 10 on their site.

Alpha 12 I think is 80k or so.

hate to be the one to say it, but this is one of those situations where if you have to ask, you can't afford it. seriously. Paying a shop to do such a massive install is never going to be 'affordable'...
Better off saving for a gtr and getting boltons plus a great tune.
