May have a blown headgasket...car has a nice little puff of white smoke at idle and its sipping on coolant.
Motor is still under warranty so I have 2 options.
Pull turbo kit, install stock manifolds, stock cats, put on stock plenum, and have motor replaced under warranty.
Or.
Do a mild build of the engine:
Cosworth 8.8:1 Pistons .10mm over (i already bought these just in case)
Cosworth Piston Rings
Carillo H-beam Rods (should i get tapered or straight)
APR L19 Main Studs
Cosworth Main Bearing Set
Cosworth Head Gasket
any other suggestions for parts? technosquare thinks it will be around $4000 in labor/machining for a simple engine build. That seems reasonable but if anyone has any other suggestions for shops, let me know.

Damn that was quick. I thought you weren't driving it until the Haltech was fixed?
Might as well do both. Since you would have to pull the motor for the build anyway, might be worth just getting the new motor at the same time.

i've driven it 500-600 miles since the turbo installed. The engine only has 10,000 miles on it since i had it replaced under oil consumption originally so i dont really see the point of getting the new motor just to rebuild using that.
Word. I didnt realize it was that new.

Whether or not I have a headgasket issue or not I've decided to build the motor. I do not care how much horsepower I make, what I care about is making power as reliably as I can in a built motor. I am well aware the words reliable and power do not belong in the same sentence but I have been offered to have my engine built and tuned with a warranty.
The shop that will be doing the build is Gearheinz Power Service in Duarte, CA. The lead mechanic was also the lead mechanic for the Rockstar Drift Team.
Here is what I am thinking for the engine build.
Cosworth 8:8.1 Pistons +10mm over
CP Piston Rings (it seems that cosworth doesn't make +10mm over piston rings)
Carrillo H-Beam Rods (NI-Q35>-65676H-0)
ARP L19 Main Studs
ARP L19 Head Studs
Cosworth Head Gasket (not sure which thickness i need)
Cosworth Main Bearing Set (not sure which size i need)
Cosworth Rod Bearing Set (not sure if needed, please advise)
Block inspected and cleaned
Block redecked
Block Bored and Honed using a Torque Plate
Rotating assembly balanced
Crank magnafluxed and the journals micro-polished
Do I need anything else? Any suggestions? If I don't care about making more power from the heads should I not do anything other then headgasket and l19 studs? Should I have it redecked, valve job, etc..?
Currently I have 850cc injectors, cosworth fuel rails, and a single walbro lph255 fuel pump. I plan on completing the return fuel system by buying the needed parts from CJM but should I upgrade the fuel pump to a DW lph300?
Let me know what you guys think, thanks!
P.S. I should mention my stock block only has 10k miles on it.

I'm sure you've seen this but it's a killer deal for DE heads, if mine weren't done already I'd be all over this. https://my350z.com/forum/engine/5318...are-block.html

The cosworth pistons I plan on using are 95.75mm not 96mm so I am not sure it would work with darton sleeves. That seems like a great deal but probably overkill for my goals. I want to keep it simple.
