Default OIL issue???

Got another issue... (This is a built motor) Think I am having an oil pressure problem on cold starts. So on cold starts, the motor rattles kinda loud for about 2-3 seconds. So i watched the oil pressure gauge when I cranked it one morning and while the motor rattled, the oil pressure gauge read 0, and after about those 2-3 seconds the motor sounded normal and thats when the oil pressure gauge jumped high. This normally happens on cold starts, but lets say if I drive around for awhile and turn it off and wait about an hour. It would do the same, even if the motor is warm. But if I crank within 30 min, its ok.

Any ideas? I tried switching the oil pressure sensor and nothing. I went from 15w-50 oil to 10w-30. I dont think it would be the clutch possibly? Have a Twin Carbonetic. Possibly oil pump, which is also brand new, motor only having about 5k miles.

Any ideas?

What is your oil pressure when fully warmed up? At idle and while
driving. Also, what oil filter do you have?

Fully warmed up around 20ish? Idle is same. When hitting full boost about half way, which is 60?

I use OEM Nissan oil filter...

Any more ideas?

Probably just the timing chain tensioner.

So your saying the timing chain tensioner is making the noise? Or needs to be tightened a bit?

And is that sprocket noise TSB normal as well?

i would go back to the person or shop that built the motor...sometimes problems don't show up until 1000's of miles later

+1 whoever put the motor together should be willing to look at it. Especially if you only have 5k miles on the engine

Well I bought the car from someone else, and he had it built. And that shop actually happen to have gone out of business... So I am trying to figure it out.

if thats the case go back to the person you bought the car from...unless you 2 had some kind of "as is" deal...anywho

you may need to go to a reputable tuner shop and have them take a look...its gonna be the expensive route but you'll get a better idea

So this sounds like its pretty common and normal? And nothing to really worry about, as long as I keep up with my oil changes?

Hey guys, sorry to bring up my old thread back up. But today I took off the left black cover on the front timing cover where the main timing chain tensioner sits, and I tried to tighten it up, but it wouldn't move. I could tighten the chain, but the tensioner would remain in its position. So does this sound like the problem?
