Default Bad idea?

You think it would be a bad idea to vortech supercharged a z with 90,000 miles? The z has always been taking care of and not beat to hell. I don't track it either. If I were to get the supercharger I would keep it on it's stock boost. Later on when I have enough money I'll start building the engine then.

If you plan on building the engine down the road, get either a ST or a TT kit.

As for good/bad idea, get a compression/leak down test done first. That will give you a good idea of the overall health of your engine.

OP, you are lucky this was posted on a Sunday morning when things are usually slow. You got an accurate and polite response from Sasha.

You should now PM a mod to close this thread and read the sticky threads in this sub-forum before the rest of the F/I regulars wake up or get back from church. If you persist you will most likely damage any chance of being welcome in the F/I section in the future and the flaming will commence.

This topic has been addressed many times in the past and several threads are availble to answer your query. The search button is your friend.

But seriously OP what sasha said. Compression leak down test is the only way to answer your qustions, and a big on ST or TT if you plan to build

I don't think its that dumb of a question. A lot of people have supercharged their Z at higher mileage than that and had good results for many miles to come. Keep the 3.33 pulley and get a nice conservative tune, and you'll be very happy with it. But like they said, if you do plan on building the engine in the near future, then a turbo will put out more power. The supercharger is a great option for the stock motor, I love mine and don't plan on ever building the engine. I don't race, so 400whp is plenty for the street.

Certainly has been asked , but over time and with more cars either approachung or have high mileage , the old responses may need to be revised...
