Jesus, can you even tell a butt dyno difference from 700 to 800 HP with the unrestricted exhaust? Nice!

At those HP levels the butt dyno doesn't work. To much poop comes out and it all just feels warm, soft and scary

You are tightening your butt checks too much, try to loosen up a bit.

Maybe try a higher gear too

Final e85 numbers with no muffler (toned down a bit as injector limited after switching to ID1300 from ID2000, but not too shabby):

For the muffler, I plan on adding 2 of these and tying to the boost reference:

There are a couple sources in China now. If you search ebay for "exhaust control valve actuator" you will see several in sizes ranging from 2" to 3". And prices under $200!

Compare that to the SP one.

Edit: the boost increases to maintain the flat torque curve. For the above curve I am not sure as Hal had to reduce to feel safe with injector duty cycle (will have to ask), but this was at max 23 psi (E85) with a faulty coilpack (new coilpacks eliminated dip in the middle you see here). The max psi for pump gas is 17 psi.

Dam man!
Killer power! Glad to see this car really performing like it should! And cool find with those exhaust valves. This 4" straight pipe has already gotten me some visits from the local LEOS, and the car's still on jack stands.Would be awesome to rig up a sliceable dual 3" setup.

ya i paid about 250$ for mine from SP. The new SP ones have o-ring seals. Mine leak slightly. I imagine yours will leak as well. But i does look like those have a return spring which is nice. Should help seal better.

Leaking a little out the tail pipe is ok. This is strictly to control noise when not under load.

The SP valves are usually $400 (and I see nearly $500 with the o ring design). You got a deal!

^ they intermittently failed to seal (the butterfly would bend under hard boost and sometimes just stuck 1/2 way open) AND I was under the mistaken impression that the power hit was less than 20 whp. Little did I know that the power hit was so low because they were always leaking! Sealed it up and bam over 100 whp loss.

Raj, please post your results with the exhaust control valve actuators. I changed to a 3" exhaust to reduce back pressure, but it is quite loud, and rather annoying when just cruising. If the exhaust control valve actuators will quite things down while just cruising, they may be the solution I am looking for.

they wont quiet down an existing loud exhaust. They are just cutouts.

I run a single big dynomax resonator and a single dynomax muffler. I have the cutout before both those. SO just cruising you dont even know the car is on.

^ Exactly. I am running a stock G37 muffler with the intake piping widened to 3". You cannot change the exit piping size because they run into the muffler and into the baffling.

Anyway, it is very quiet, but obviously, 2.25" tail piping is restrictive.

I no longer have access to Hal's dyno because the car is back with me but I will install an exhaust backpressure gauge and take some measurements before and after modification.

I am debating whether I should try to fool with placing the valves on the muffler itself or just go straight for the piping leading in to the muffler. These valves always leak a little so it would probably sound quieter off the muffler but I'm not sure if the baffles will continue to restrict even with 4 exit holes out the sides.

EDIT: I have ID2000 injectors if anyone wants a steal on a set before I post up on ebay
