Budget Single Turbo Build! High mileage
have you thought about a clutch yet? You'll find out real quick that one thats worn out will let go around 3-4psi ... thats what happened to me at least when I finished my twin turbo install and thought the stock clutch would get me by for a while at low boost but after a few weeks it would slip once it seen boost in the 3-4psi range. for cheap I'd go with a southbend DXD, I have a JWT with a cheap chromoly flywheel and I "think" its slipping after being on it for about a year at 8-9psi
my original oem stock clutch/flywheel. with 76k miles held 494whp/444tq @10psi for 30k miles and is still holding great. you should be good with that new clutch as long as you're not dumping it all the time.
Okay guys. My goal for the day is to clock the turbo to the right direction. Mount the turbo, run the exhaust all the way back from the turbo. Start figuring out how the intercooler will be mounted. Possibly mount the intercooler
Got the turbo clocked and mounted for good. Took a while to mount as it had to be clocked perfectly to clear either side. It's a tighter fit than I imagined. Haven't been able to get much work done because of finals and work. Z has been feeling neglected and I will hopefully get a night where I can just wrench on it for 6 hours and get the rest done in one day.
you can run the oil feed from where the oil pressure sensor is with a "T". and use the oil pan spacer with pre-threaded ports from JWT, Z1, etc. for the oil return line. so you don't have to drill into your upper oil pan.
Phunk mentioned another port just above that one that taps the filtered side of the oil system. See: https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...l#post10465034
Turbos do not like dirty oil, and it's worth the time/effort to tap a filtered supply. It always surprised me how many turbo failures I heard about on Z33s until I realized that they're almost all supplying the turbo with unfiltered oil.
This is the sort of post you hold onto until April 1st, then watch the haters come in and make idiots of themselves.

It's worth mentioning that oil from this port is unfiltered.

Food for thought. Not EVERYONE has blown turbos.
And also food for thought, how many people have spun bearings? How many people don't change their oil as often as they should, especially on a turbo Z?
