Thumbs up ATI and TuboXS Blow off valve

I just finished installing the TurboXS H34 BOV in place of the little surge valve ATI supplies..The Valve is open under vacume letting the unused compressed air flow out to atmosphere, when it is under manifold pressure it shuts and flows all the compressed air right up to your throttle body...When you let off the accelerator under boost the valve opens and lets the compressed air escape into atmosphere..The connection between the intake elbow and the intercooler piping is now severed and the hole in the elbow is plugged up using an expansion plug..This was done by ATI for emmissions and is not necessary using the BOV...I am still waiting for new belts to arrive (KUDO'S to ERIC at ATI) and will give you guys a review..Here are some pics for now..

is the vacuum enough to actuate the valve?.......i thought the H34 spring was kind of strong for this application and thought about getting a weaker spring........i guess since your belts are toast you won't know till you get 'em, but let me know how it goes

I started the car without the SC and the Vacume produced by the engine opens it fine.We will see how it works when it comes to closing when I get my belt.It comes with washers to make the spring tighter I believe..I just hope the 8-9lbs of boost is enought to keep it closed..I know another guy here did it on a G-35 which comes from ATI with 6lbs.

ok..Got the belts on and the BOV is working great!!Its got a slight "whistle"sound at part trottle around 2300 rpms but once you reach boost it shuts and when you shift or let off the gas it gives a nice "whooshhhh" sound..Its not really a loud high pitched "PSTTTT" as some other valves but very tolerable and noticable if thats what your after..I reccomend this mod!!Heres a link yo EBAY where I got it..http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=35562597&ssPageName=L2

Well, I had the TurboXS H-34 on my DSM and loved it. I sold my DSM about a month later though. It comes with washers that you can use to adjust the spring. If anyone is interested pm me. I'll let it go $100.

Daking, nice writeup. Curious, what did you use to plug the hole on the intake elbow.

I used this expandable plug from an auto parts store..The on ein the picture is 1-1/4 to 1-3/8 which is too big,you need the smaller 1"-1-1/4" one..Its got a rubber grommet between the bolt and when you tighten it it expands and plugs the hole perfect!!!It was like $2 I think..Let me know if you cant find one Ill send you one..

When you're at an idle and the BOV is open, does air suck into the valve or blow out? How about when you stomp on the throttle from an idle??

How bout an audio clip of the sound?

At Idle the air is blowing out.Its the compressed air that the SC is making at idle and venting it out prior to reaching the intercooler..As far as Stomping on the throttle from idle you will most likely bog a bit..But thats normal even stock..Between the valve and the blower my car is so darn noisey you wont hear it on audio!! All I can say is it howls a bit at part throttle and when it opens after boosting it give an audible "WHOOOOOSH"...
