5AT (automatic transmission) Owners With Forced Induction Please Read
I agree with coach. Drive is pretty normal unless I jump on it hard, but in manual it will spin the tires through fourth. You will hit the rev limiter if you shift too late, but it shifts so fast in manual that you can shift at 200 rpms before you hit it and it should be fine because it shifts so fast. Sounds like something is wrong.
Can any of you if is not to much trouble post a video ???? to see? I just drove to school and it feels ok but normal driving is fine then i switch to Manual and am not sure if its ok. I mean do i have to floor it in manual to notice the difference?
That's your problem right there. No trans is going to be able to keep up with zero traction. Get new/better tires and/or alignment.
Well considering there is a 10 qt capacity, more if you have a cooler, and the service manual says you may need to add anywhere from 30%-50% of the full volume with a drain/fill... there is only one way to be sure and that is to measure it.
Will measure as soon as am done with school.

I found this handy (for a 2004.5 G35 5AT coupe), which may help you, but I would recommend using the procedure for your model year as things like the dipstick change year to year. It can be hard to read the dipstick - you have to hold it at an angle to see the level (and note you rotate the dipstick 180 degrees when you insert it back in to measure). The important part is the tip (the rest of the shaft may have splattered fluid on it). If the tip is dry then you are low - do not overfill though - add 1/2 qt at a time and remeasure.
You probably won't have a temp gauge available to you, which the procedure calls for. Start with a cold car and let it idle for 5 mins to check cold operating range and idle another 15-20 mins and you should be close to the hot operating temp (even without driving around like they say). If you drive more than 5 mins, you will likely be past the HOT range and you won't be sure where the level should be.

I can hold traction in 2nd gear to redline with 520 whp and it really let's the VB do it's job. I'm running 305 Toyo R888s in the back though. I had solid traction in 2nd gear to redline to about 450 whp with 295 Michellin PS2 summer tires.EDIT: Aren't the Falken tires notable only for being quiet? They are marketed to high end car-audio buffs. Not a real sticky tire...

you may not see too much difference in manual if you drive it easy. You should see a tremendous difference in manual if you drive it hard. It should shift very hard.
Here's a video of how fast an upgraded VB should shift....

Ok guys, lol, it is fine then. It was me who was driving like a wuss!! I punch it while D drive today going to school and it shifted fast *** hell as well as hard and i chirped 2nd and 3rd. It feels like a small amount of boost. Then i tried it in manual and .... The same thing !! Woa ! it feels fast almost scary and am not even boosting. Fowlman ur right about the shifting not being much of a difference when driving normal, is only when you gun it that you notice it. I was a bit worried man but thanks to all of you everything is cool!!!
There were a couple places in the vid were it was shifting fast. Like you said when you're really on it, it will shift faster than in the vid. Mines a frikin neck breaker(except 2-3 shift) when I'm racing.
No, you really need to check your tranny fluid. Here's an example: when I was backing out of my driveway and when I put it in drive it felt like it was not engaging/slipping. I checked the tranny fluid and it was about a qt low. Added fluid and never had the problem after that.
Ill stop by Nissan today and buy another Qt. just to be on the safe side. I checked it yesterday and it looks kinda low. That's exactly whats happening it feels like is slipping. Now am worried because i shifted a few times hard for the past few days, will that do any damage?
