Tony, I live in AZ. My car will be in 120 degree heat in Phoenix in July and could possibly be in temperatures below freezing in Flagstaff in the winter (at 7,000 feet above sea level).

What is the best set up for this huge difference in elevation/temperature. Thanks!

so what will it be for the rev-up plenum Tony, an angled spacer? Any technical info on why the plenum spacer doesnt work?
Actually, I don't believe any of the usual upper plenum mods work on the revup engine. Angled, cast or whatever.

The Revup lower plenum was re-designed such that there is no longer a weak point that can be taken advantage of. Nissan fixed the pressure drop problem above runners 1&2. So there is nothing to fix with the usual plenum mods...

It will take new thinking to get more juice out of this engine.

Whats the percent error of the thermocouples and reader combo you're using Tony? I got a cheap type K with my multimeter and the specs say up to +/- 3% error. I still gotta check it's accuracy with boiling distilled water...

Sorry for the delayed response.

Yeah AZ get insanely HOT!

I set it up so you can order both #1 and #2 for the same price as #3. This way you can also get the CCV to reduce temperatures further. It probably won't make much of a difference when all things are considered, but when you're in AZ... hehe. Everything counts.

If you want a spacer to go with it, get #6 or #7, along with #2 and it will do the same thing.

I don't know, I will have to check. I wasn't particularly interested in absolute values though. Its the deltas that count more than anything.

The rubber gasket should go on the same side as the copper tube is silver soldered on. This is the side that will face the plenum.

The bare copper side will go against the TB.

LMK if you have any Q's!

Tony, I understand you are very busy. However, I have tried to have my questions answered by posting this question in the forum and also sending you a direct msg but I haven't heard back from you yet. When you have a chance, please post a reply. Thanks.

Oggie,

In the first post of the GB thread:

Shipping to Canada:
Shipping on all spacers is $37.00 via FedEx economy ground. Iso Thermal upgrades are $18.00 via FedEx. Other than government tarrifs, there are no carrier transaction charges like there is with UPS.

My first post at the top of this page was in answer to both you and TiPIACE. The spacers work in all but the "REVUP" engines. In other words, they will produce about 11-13 HP on your car.

Thats exactly how its connected. Simply unplug the plenum hoses and plug it into the copper TB heater with the same orientation on the connections.

Thank you for the feedback! I will clairify this in the installation manual.

(If so, how are they secured and does anything need to be done to cover the open fittings on the upper plenum?)

You don't need to cover the plenum plugs. Its only about a 3" flow path through.

Also, the installation instructions do not describe the orientation of the Copper TB Heater in relation to the throttle body. Are the prongs on the Copper TB Heater (that look like hose connection fittings) facing down, or what direction when installed?
Please advise (and possibly revise the installation instructions). Thanks

Yes, the hose nipples go in the same orientation as seen on the plenum. Updating the manual now! Thank you!

Tony: I received my upgrade kit with the Copper Throttle Body Heater and I really wanted to install it this weekend. I did not because I am very uncertain about what is involved for proper installation. As just one example, the installation manual describes the "Nissan stock metal gasket." Is this a reference to the rubber gasket that you sent me? Is it the rubber gasket that you are discussing in the quote above? Or,is there a metal gasket also and where does it belong? The installation manual does not address a lot of unknowns regarding the CTB Heater. The plenum spacer and Aramid gasket installations are explained very well but it seems like you ran out of gas when you got to the CTB Heater section.

Could you please provide step by step installation instructions for the CTB Heater (call it CTB Heater for idiots)? Pictures and red arrows are always very helpful. I apologize for my request, but I am very reluctant to plunge headlong into this project without a better understanding of the proper installation. Thanks, in advance.

The metal gasket is the "Nissan" throttle body gasket supplied with the kit.

Its good to see that you hold off untill you first understand what is involved. Give me a PM with specific questions and I can help out.

I will work on the CTB heater section for more clarification. Thank you for the feedback! A good portion of the hardware and literature improvements are made through good feedback like yours.

I'll try to make pictoral illustrations showing how it goes together.

Thanks for your reply. I do not have any specific questions now; they will come when I have all the parts of the CTB Heater, plenum and TB spread across my workbench. That is why I am trying to get my arms around the project in advance.

I will wait until your "CTB Heater for Dummies" revision is complete. Thanks for your cooperation.

Hi,

I have a 2004 G35 Coupe 5AT.
I have the INJEN CAI.
If I get the 5/16" Spacer with the thermal kit and the copper TB will I have any issues installing it?
Will the intake complicate the installation process?

No. I've already installed this combination and it fits great.

Injen intakes are a very common feature on the VQ. See em all the time.

Ok all,

got my kit on Weds. Installed on Sat. almost 2 hours to do. Took my time with no probs. AEM CAI made no diff during install. Everything lined up and went back together fine. Car definitely idles smoother. Everything seems smoother. Even my tranny seems to be shifting smoother, could be my imagination. Didn't notice a huge difference at first, until this morning. I've got a nice long curved freeway ramp by me. I usually take it around 80 mph. I've floored it through this before and it's fun, no probs. Today I floored it and holy crap! The car REALLY opened up and took off instantly. MAJOR increase in power and response. I was at 110 faster than I could blink my eyes. I'm happy!!

Sorry for my ignorance. What is considered as a REVUP engine? G35s with 298 HP?

Tony i thought the extra power came from a greater volume of air inside the plenum as well? So more air doesnt create the power, only even airflow?
