Again, it seems we have a number of people baffled and confused about the infamous SES light they get after installing test pipes. True, not everyone gets it, but if you run a 04.5+ model yr car, you have pretty good odds you will.
I will post this again, out of the goodness of my heart because I hate to see my fellow Z owners baffled and confused:
HELP! nonfoulers, part # 42002 or 42009 - either will work.
Buy two packs for a total of '4' nonfoulers. Take two of the four and drill them out with a 1/2" drill bit. Take the two NONdrilled nonfoulers and screw one into each test pipe. Then screw one drilled nonfouler into them on each bank. Now, install the o2 sensors into drilled nonfouler and you are done.
Each bank should look like this
o2 sensor -> DRILLED nonfouler -> NON drilled nonfouler -> test pipe
Make sure the code is cleared before running the car as the fix will keep the SES light away, but 'may' not clear it if it was already thrown.

Hate to put a wet blanket on this party, but I need to throw a dose of reality into this discussion. We've been running the anti-fouler method of preventing an SES on the Spec for several years, and on other imports for several years before that. It is NOT always a complete or permanent fix. The additional distance between the sensor and the evil stuff passing through your pipes will keep the SES at bay for a few miles. Depending on exhaust gas temperature and content, it may be 50 miles, 500 miles, or 2000 miles. But eventually, you WILL throw an SES. I have seen it on several cars, and the condition is well documented elsewhere. Then, you just pull the sensor, clean it (and it will be cruddy), and you'll be good to go for another round. Just so you're not surprised when it happens.

Overall, it is an easy fix, that is very cheap and 100% reversable (no tapping wires)

nonfoulers are EASY to install. Take the parts to who ever is installing your test pipes and tell them how to install them and I am sure they will have no problem.
Your car is most likely an 04.5

ECU flash has no impact on the nonfoulers
Nonfoulers are about $5/pack of two

You are asking WAY too many elementary questions. It is obvious to me that you need to read the forums a bit more and get at least a fundamental understanding of what the cause and effects of given parts/modifications are. I have responded with a lot of info already and I think you need to read and take it in.

yeah i know i am asking questions. im new to the forums. im asking questions because i want to get good performance from my car without affecting drivability. anyways u guys have been helpful and i think im gonna get the helix pipes.

All the info you have asked about is easily found through searching or just looking through the forum. I have no problem answering your questions, just that sometimes it's better to search out the info on your own. This will help you come to a better understanding of how different parts affect different aspects of your car. It's obvious to me that you don't have a clear understanding of how things like test pipes/HFCs, ECU flash, etc may possibly affect your car.

Hate to put the dry blanket but may i mention i first ran 2000 miles with the test pipes with a SES light on my 04.5, AND THEN i did the nonfouler mod without wipping/cleaning the o2 sensor like you say. Reset the ECU, and has not come back since for a bit over 4000 miles
NOT true in my book.
