Happy New Year everybody! So I installed my Greddy SP2 yesterday, and as expected from a Greddy product it sounds great and the quality is great. I have loved the SP line ever since i first got an SP1 on my old car 10 years ago. I was a little surprised to find it was only axle-back for our cars, but since im not FI'd and the stock piping seems pretty nice, no biggie to me.

The one thing I DONT like about this exhaust is how the tips stick out. I have attached pictures showing that I did indeed push them into the rubber mounts as far as it will go. I also attached a pic of one i found that isn't sticking out, its flush.... help me! Other than cutting and welding, is there anything I can do???

Its very hard to tell how much extra one side sticks out in the pics but here is one suggestion. While it may seem odd to do this, many people use this technique, and if you tighten the bolts down at the flange you wont have any issues. Try doubling or even tripling up on the flange exhaust gasket on the side that needs to be pushed out. Those metal gaskets can be pretty thick so it should help if the difference isnt that big, they will run between $4-12 each depending on where you go. Good luck!

 

I think he means that his tips stick out further than the bumper and he wants them to look like the pic in the second post.

 

your right... thats exactly what i mean... and here's Greddy's response and I don't like this response... i've even found more pix of others that are flush...

 

If I recall, the GReddy SP2 is configured like stock -- one muffler with two tips. The best way to adjust the tips, believe it or not, is to adjust the muffler itself. If you move the muffler and adjust the angle, you will notice that you're also adjusting the tips. You may also have to adjust the angle of the hangers attached to the muffler in order to get the desired location of the tips. If all else fails, you can bend the hangers to adjust the tips also.

yah i know this - i think the only exhaust that has adjustable tips is the hks.. but i havent researched much of that. the problem is when i installed the exhaust i pushed it as far back as it would physically go before even connecting the midpipe... since greddy says its suposed to be like that and i believe them, im probably just going to either live with it for now or maybe consider cutting and welding... unless someone has info like for example get the one for the 350z and it will sit flush but i doubt that.

 

i don't have pictures anymore cause my hdd crapped out, but i had it on my Z and the tips were lined up perfect, just a little further out than stock if any, i gave the muffler to my buddy so i can get some measurements of it to see if it will work for you, im pretty sure the only difference between Z and G versions of the models is the lenth of the tip or maybe you can ask performancenissan for them
