Need Input on Injen Exhaust
Hey guys I am planning to get an Injen cat back exhaust for my 350Z. I would like to know if there are any fitment issues i should be aware of, because I am going to be be doing the install with a friend.
Those of you that have an Injen exhaust on your 350Z I would really appreciate some input on how you like it. Is it worth the money? Is there droning noise inside the car? Is there ratteling? Is it easy to install?
If possible I would really love to see a video clip or sound clip if anyone has one. I have heard the sound clip on everything350Z, but that sound clip is of a dyno and it is hard to tell due to computer distortion.
Thanks to everyone for your input in advance!

I love it. its a bit loud inside the car to the point where at 2k-3k rpm range its hard to talk to the person next to you. i installed it myself and its easy as hell. i got mine used so i didnt pay the full price of a new one and if i was to afford a new one i would still get it. i say go for it. i enjoy it alot.

You have asked this question on every Z board I go to and with similar results. Maybe because the topic has been so well covered. Here are a few search resutls:

Chris
Guys thank you very for all your help! It seems that people are about 70/30 in favor of this exhaust. I will not be FI for a couple years so I think this exhaust is the best quality sound for the $$$.
I read on some of the posts that Chris shows above that there is some droning noise in the cabin. I do not have any test pipes or HFCs. Would you guys recommend getting the test pipes or the HFCs? Or d I even need either of these?

I suggest you install the Magnaflow x-pipe muffler if you get this exhaust to get rid of the drone & gain a deeper tone. You'll also re-gain some torque that you may have lost if you have headers & test pipes installed. The INJEN SES sounds awesome with this setup and it looks nice when you're looking at your Z from the rear. Wait till you rev up this exhaust system under a bridge or a tunnel -- it's exhilirating!!!

Beware that there are two versions of this exhaust, the 1985C and the 1986C.
Most of the criticism you see is relative to the 1985C, the 1986C has a H-pipe, bigger piping and slip fit except for the pipes that hook up to the cats.
I got the 1986C, and my mechanic friend who mounted it said it wasn't very easy to install, he had problem with the slip-fit and we still have to tinker with adjusting the outlets.
The sound is amazing, it really is a good sounding exhaust. It's loud though, I must say that the noise inside the cab is actually a bit too loud for my taste, it's not unbearably loud but you do hear the motor pretty much all the time. I hope it will mellow out a bit, only had the exhaust for 300 miles or so, but not holding my breath. Having no point of comparison I can't judge if the drone is abnormal or if it's just inherent to having a less restrictive exhaust.
I must say however that there is no homologated exhaust for sale for the Z in Switzerland, so if I get caught by the police, I'll just have to take it off and pay a fine. This is why I'm not too confortable with it, and I can't knock the exhaust for it.
Judging from by butt-dyno, I don't think i've lost any torque, and the car definitely feels faster uptop. But it could be my imagination.
Hope this will be of help,
Cheers, Manu

Ok thats great advise guys thank you very much!!!
2 last questions --->>> i have noticed that some of these systems come with straight pipes and some come with H-pipe. As far as I understand the H-pipe is better. Can anyone fill me in with a mechanical explination of why this is so?
Finally, I would like to know where you guys suggest to go for best price on the Injen Super SES Titanium Tip Exhaust?

Exhaust exits in pulses rather than a steady flow. While one pipe is filled with pressure the other pipe is relatively pressureless but the connecting of the two pipes in a siamese pattern allows pressure to be released to the other side. This action allows the exhaust to pass through the pipe quicker and this better ‘breathing’ increases horsepower.

That's to prevent rattling right??

Yes you should have this brace.
