so in a previous thread, I had this problem with my stock intake tube having the finish on it getting eaten away by heat I guess, so I decided to buy the CF intake tube from my350zsource.com and I must say the piece is perfect. the weave is tight with no imperfections and the couplers that are included are better than OEM. Anyone else who has the same problem I did should definetly look into this.

I have the evo-r cf tube, its great except it's not CARB legal. Damn cops always ask me if I have a CARB sticker for it and I reply with "it's only for asthetic purposes officer". lol

This occured when I got pulled over at Angeles Crest for 71 in a 55. They tested the exhaust decibals and checked under the hood.

 

They used a db meter???

Yah, the guy said legal limit where he was standing was supposed to be 40db, I was at 140db. lol

They just gave me a warning for the exhaust, intake tube, and front license plate and wrote me up for speeding.

My exhaust is pretty loud though, agency power doesnt have a resonator so exhaust = headache.

 

Did he really say you were at 140dB? I'd love for an officer to write me a ticket for a 140dB ticket and take me to court with it. A jet airplane is about 110dB at a reasonable distance. A concert is 120dB on the front row.

PS sound is measured logarithmically... for example, a 95dB sound is twice as loud as a 92dB one. Hence my disbelief .

Good thing I know this, next time if they talk out of their **** like that i'll tell them off. I think he was just trying to scare me into putting a stock muffler. Didn't really work.
