I bought my 06 used, and mine were already a little scuffed up, i just thought it was normal wear and tear, but they have only gotten worse, and i am obsessed when it comes to taking care of my car...I am looking into getting JDMZ33 CF switch covers next week

Sanded mine down to the bare plastic, painted with some flat black paint. Problem solved.

I did the same repair just recently. I must say the results area better than expected. A little elbow grease goes a long way with this fix. I used the Rust-oleum, Universal Advanced Formula, Satin Black paint and the color is really a good fit in the car. +1 for the paint solution.

I'm about to redo mine with the Duplicolor flat black interior paint (not exact name of it). I did the driver's side panel already and decided it needs some clear coat/enamel... so waiting on that to arrive and then I'm doing the whole interior.

For those not understanding the issue, basically some of the Zs have HORRIBLE interior paint... or something happens like a layer deteriorates or something... and the paint can literally be rubbed off if you tried. It really has nothing to do with being careless/having long nails. It really is ridiculous, especially in the Florida heat.

I'll post pics when I'm done with mine. I seriously can't wait... the interior of this car makes it feel crappier than it really is.

I will add: I bought my 04 used at the end of 07 and the paint was fine, a scratch here and there but the feel of it was pretty solid. It wasn't a year or two until it started feeling rubbery and easy to scratch off.

Excited to rejuvinate the interior, will post pics soon.

My fix didn't go so well. The side panels with the window controls were very easy... just sand down and paint. I started on the center part with the shifter boot... basically the pattern that is on that plastic is tough to paint on, I tried a few times and the paint bubbles no matter what. I started sanding it down so it was completely smooth, but didn't feel like doing that to the rest of the console (the bin, etc). So I contacted a buddy I bought parts from before and bought that part for $40. Oh well.

For the upper part that was scratch, I simply sprayed that same paint into a cap and touch up the scratches with a paint brush. Wow. Wish I would've just done that to the bottom piece. It came out great and couldn't even notice after some armor-all.

Here's the paint I used: http://www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-Pe.../dp/B000BPBUXK

So moral of the story: use this stuff and just touch up the scratches. I full repainting is not necessary.

I'll try to get some pics up of the touch up if I remember...

Is there a kit in brushed aluminium? Di-Noc solution looks decent, but I think it's going to be difficult to apply that on the center console... Don't know what to do yet...

I just finished it up and it looks awesome. I used duplicolor (not sure on spelling) black paint and applied 3 coats and one coat of clear cover base.
Before you even behind applying the black coats make sure that you sand down the entire piece. It is a super easy thing to do. You can even use some of the paint to touch any other blemishes your interior has.

Whatever is easiest to take off the paint. I think I used 100 grit to skin that bastard.
