Does anyone have instructions on how to pop it off or do you have to take the whole door apart?

Default solve

Had the same problem with mulitple scatches on the switch panel.
Just paint them like I did.
Remove the switch assembly, lite sanding, paint (whatever you like), clear coat and re-install.
$15, save you whole lot of money.

you can do the same with eveything else that can be removable.

^^I like the look of that silver on those. Anyone know how to get it to look like the brushed silver finish look like the rest of the interior? Don't like the carbon fiber.

any idea on how to remove the latch for the cubby hole in the center console?

just asking cause i actually went to the stealership today and i was told i was no longer under warranty. the cost of the parts there are $92 each armrest.

To take the driver's side piece out, just look down inside the depression, pop the little rubber cap off and take out the screw.

You can then use either a flat blade covered in elecrtrical tape to pry up the piece or just grip it firmly and pull up and back. It will pop off.

Disconnect the two wiring harness connectors, pop out the switch assemblies and you are ready to prep and paint.

Passenger side is the same but you have to remove the silver trim piece that covers the passenger side door grip. Very small flat blade, covered in tape again, to pry the edge out from the top and work your way down.

Remove the two screws that hold the handle to the door.

Then pry the piece that holds the switches loose and pull the handle straight out of the door. Disconnect the wiring connectors, remove the switch assemblies and there you go.

You mean the release button for the cubby door in the center console? You can take that out by using a small flat blade screwdriver and popping it out by prying under an edge. Watch carefully in case the spring under the button comes out.

After it's ready to go back in, just put the spring in and snap in the button.

Just a note, '06 - '08 has a totally different cubby. This method will break the button off. You will need to remove, then completely disassemble the cubby in order to remove the button.

+1. I had my button on my '06 replaced under warranty (along with driver armrest, steering wheel trim, and radio ****). They told me instead of replacing the button, they replaced my whole cubby, which was great b/c the guy that had the car before me had drilled a hole in the middle back of the cubby for wiring to something.

I believe you can buy brushed silver spray paint.
All I did was remove, sand, paint, & clear coat.
Look so much better than CF ($$$) and no sticky 3M tape.

Here's a picture of mine. After doing a double din install, we noticed that the rubber coating on both front center console pieces comes off very easily. You can accidentally rub it too hard with your finger nail and it comes off. You can kind of see the scratches in this picture, and there are more when you see it in person:

Thanks for the correction on the 06 - 08 cubby. Nice to know. I should have spec'd 03-05 on my post.

I have a 2006 as well. Painted my door panels today (silver). I still have to figure out what to do with the aluminum pieces on the steering wheel and the aluminum covering on the door handle. Also, I noticed that the center console piece that surrounds the radio is wearing.
