Default are my brakes warped??

here is a pic of my driver side front rotor. After a few snowy days there was a lot of rust on my rotors. After driving around for a while a lot of it came off. This rotor however still has a 'ring' of rust on the outer edge that just wont go away!

I am not feeling any pulsating when i slam the brakes and braking power seems the same.

I cannot tell if the rotors are warped by looking at a photo. Sorry.

I understand you cant tell for sure by looking at a picture, but if there is rust on the outer edge of the rotor, that must mean the pad is not contacting that section of the rotor. So does that not mean the rotors could be warped?

probably just means your pad isnt contacting the outer part of the rotor because there is any pad material there.

does the other rotor look the same?

The brake calliper and pad was not designed to cover the rotor 100 percent.

This is normal ---Pads contact just so much rotor. If you slide your finger over that area, you will feel how much metal is wearing off the rotor

Doesn’t the pad cover the entire rotor? This is new to me. Just doesn’t make sense to me. Why wouldn’t u just go with a smaller diameter rotor than?
When I slide my finger over the area...it feels 'raised'

The difference between the "raised" and the pad contact area is the amount the rotor is worn

And no ---------There is no pad on any rotor that covers it 100%

ditto. agreed.

Unless your car shakes when applying brake pressure, your rotors are not warped. you will definitely know when your rotors need to be resurfaced.

thanks guys.

Didnt think they were warped but just wanted to know what this 'ring of rust' was.

This raised area is about a .25 of an inch thick. The pad is that much smaller than the rotor?

If the ring of rust is depressing you------wire brush it off, spray some Hi heat paint in that area, .........Then you have a ring of paint
