I dont hear any noise when shifting into first gear but I do hear it when shifting to second. It doesnt matter if the car is cold or already warmed up. I got used to it because it did it since I bought it new last year.

yea it only happens in first and usally im not moving when i shift to first but theres times i might be rolling a tad bit. It pops when the car is warm and cold. pretty much everytime i put it in first no matter what it pops. sounds like its coming from the actuall shifter, i also can feel it. its really not to loud and it seems that its not causing any problems i just figure it does that to let you know your in first but i dont know.

well mine makes the noise usually when cold, thats why i was asking.

And yes, the shift into second, it has like a clunking noise, once again, imo not that noticeable when warm.

Also, when cold, everytime i step on the clutch to shift, it makes a hugh clunking noise, at least from the inside thats what it sounds like.

i wondered about this problem. Do you park and leave it in first gear? Like go into parking spot in first gear (or second gear then shift into first gear), shut off engine, clutch out and leave overnight. I think it happens when I do that. Then i changed it to: shift to neutral, clutch out, shut off engine, shift to 1st, clutch out. And it doesn't seem to do it anymore, need to test this a few more times.

Im goint to try that tonight and Ill let you know if it worked. I do that, I pull up to the the parking lot in first gear. Shut off the engine and then let the clutch out when the car is in gear. We'll see.

My transmission tends to clunk sometimes when I shift 1st to 2nd, and sometimes it also makes a "popping" sound, like a very muffled sound of two ceramic dinner plates clapping flat together. Also my clutch pedal makes a popping sound (which I can also feel) somewhere in the middle of its travel, which I notice when I am shifting from neutral to 1st, when the car is not moving.

Mine is a 2006. Judging from the picture in your signature you have a 2006+. Probably the same transmission, with the same weird issues. The good news is that I haven't had any real problems yet after 3 years of ownership.

Does any one else have this problem? It occasionally happens when shifting from 1st to 2nd and sometimes from 2nd to 3rd. The sound comes from the rear of the car and is a loud quick pop. Initially I thought it was the exhaust hitting the bumper but, after having the car on the lift getting new tires, the exhaust is tight as can be. Perhaps some kind of warn rubber bushing? If someone can PM me with their opinion it would be appreciated!
