Default something weird happened today

so im in my new (to me) 6spd 2005 enthusiast (21k miles on it) today and had to urge to punch it from 1st to 2nd, so i did...had a nice and quick (but smooth) shift into 2nd and punched it causing the rear to kick out a bit before gripping and taking off, felt great. then i upshift to 5th to cruise and theres no power. almost a feeling of no compression. im like oh **** what did i do. i slowly coast into a mcdonalds parking lot as the car bogs down, unresponsive to my throttle foot and eventually stalls. i restarted a few times but it lasted 2 seconds before bogging down from idle and stalling.

so i panic, call the previous owner (only have had the car for a few days) and he tells me to reset the chip tune via the cruise control, no luck. then i unplugged the mafs at the airbox, blew into the contacts, plug it back in, restart, problem solved.

freaked me out. is there a limp mode that the car goes into after a hard shift like that? or did i simply bump the contacts on the mafs loose enough to make the car stall? btw, TCS was off.

car has aps tall boy intake mani.

what gives? thanks

whats the problem with shifting from 2nd to 5th anyway? If i run 2nd up high then shift to 5th in my eclipse, theres no problem at all.

your synchros hate you.

and on another note, maybe when someone was working on the car they didn't plug the maf in all the way, or the maf may just be taking a dump...if u tap on the maf lightly with the end of a screwdriver with the car running does it act like it wants to die? thats pretty much the most caveman-like way to test it but hey, it works...

No problem at 1st, but after a couple times (50-100) of doing so the synchros tend to mess up

How bad did your rear kick out? I thought certain model Z's have that tire slip thing that cuts off the power if the *** end kicks out too much?

It's not the age people really worry about. It's the maturity level.
Noticing how amazing your grammar and english seems to be, I would have never guessed you were 21... I'd say closer to 16

You pulled the MAF sensors and it works again - ok. Do you have a CEL?

Yes I pulled the maf plug and plugged it back in and restarted and it was fine..no CELs. So I'm good to go but still was curious if anyones had a similar issue before
