Default Fueling problem

I'm having a problem in fueling the Z. the pump keeps shuting off on me no matter what I do.
pull the handle out a bit, turn it up side down, go fast, go slow, go medium.

I think its a form of vapor lock.

Dealer reply was "?"

anyone else have this concern

For every 10 gas stations I go to, maybe 1 or 2 of them the fuel keeps shutting off no matter what. I just shrug my shoulders and go to another one and it'll work fine.

octane doesnt matter...

this is a common problem.

Ive pretty well found which stations and which pumps will work, my best guess is it has to do with the slant of the ground. nissans answer was something about a new saddle shape fuel tank, where only half of the tank was getting filled on certain slopes.

just sorta one of those "things" you gotta accept I guess... if its the worst thing that happens, Ill take it.

Yeah, I have this problem too. It does seem to happen only once in awhile. Just become familiar with how many gallons you're putting in so you can tell if it's really full or just hosing ya. If you keep going after it's full, it will shoot gas out...not from experience or anything...

Oddly enough, my buddy had this problem in his 2002 Frontier. I guess there was a tech bulletin for it and it was "supposedly" fixed when he took it in. The jury is still out on whether it really got fixed...at that particular dealer we're not totally sure anyone in that garage knows what a screwdriver looks like...

I dont run it dry, I get about 20.2mpg according to the computer, and I typicly run about 14gallons out of the tank on a fill.

dont like to run it too near dry. anyway quick math says about 300, with a possible 400 if you wanted to go till dead. I do 50:50 city highway.

I'm getting about 20mpg and I'm using 100 oc. not cheap but well worth the clean burn and performance.

I'm also having this problem, but I can't completely believe it's the station I'm at and here's why. I've had my car for about 4 months now, fueling at any station was never a problem, then about 2 weeks ago when I went to fuel up at the same station I've been going to (no construction has been done) it cut off on me after 1/4 tank was input. Haven't got a chance to talk to a tech yet but if anyone knows something more about this it'd be appreciated. Using Premium only, avg. around 20mpg maybe a little more, 50:50 city/highway.

There is a TSB and a replacement of the fuel neck as I remember. The flow line that allows the pressure to equalize gets blocked or something like that.

There's a bunch of threads on gas fill problems. I'm surprised you dug up this old one though.

There's also problems with gas gauge accuracy, for example...

FYI...I had all of the official Nissan repairs for this issue and I have to tell you, it's much better but it still does it occasionally but not as bad. Even with all the fixes, it still is not perfect but it is a lot better. That's the net result of reading all of those years of postings.
