Oil pressure can depend on a lot of things like filter, oil weight, temperature. and other things. If you really want to know about the motor do a compression test on it. I have seen cars with 500,000 miles on them that have been well taken care of and I have also seen cars with 88,000 miles blow to pieces. The only problem with the 03 is the clutch fork in the transmission and also the transmission isn't as strong as the 06+.

Thanks for the quick reply but do you know what year they had oil loss problems. I want to say that my buddies car was an 05 and he had issues with it using oil. I guess they replaced a lot of engines but cant remember what years they were.

I am a hair under 70,000 miles on my '03 and I have no noticeable oil consumption and on top of that it is drifted on the track 1-2 times a month and daily driven.

05 revups in the mt anniversary edition and 06 mts were the ones with oil consumption issues i believe

For being a member on this forum for 5+ years, I'm surprised you haven't found the answer yet.

Like others have said, it depends on many factors when you're looking at one specific vehicle. As a whole, the '06 year is infamous for oil consumption. But many members have claimed they never had issues.

Please search next time.

I have an 05 35th. My first engine was replaced by Nissan at 25,000 miles. It required synthetic oil, and I would be down at least 2 quarts between changes from new. I no longer use synthetic, and if I keep the RPMs down I have no problems with consumption.

The rev-up is the one you are referring to, however, MANY of the VQ engines consume oil, especially when synthetic oil is used. These cars are all out of warranty anyway, and just because the current owner says it doesn't consume oil, doesn't mean that it doesn't. Just find a clean car that fits your wishes at a price you can afford.

Nissan designs their engines with dino...not synthetic....and its provided to them by Castrol motor oil comp..

Rear main seal on all their engines is a rubber/poly material that is made to regular CMOil specs....

I'm not saying Sythetic isn't allowed, the use of which is neither condoned or not condoned....its more that its not gonna do any detrimental damage or enough of a positive effect to warrant any concern...

The Mrev-up engines are what your asking, so as 'spottedcow' mentioned already its the 05 mt anniversarys editions and 06 MTranny cars.

-if your looking for a daily driver, pick another year...so you wont be worrying about oil consumption

-buy an 06 that you know had the engine swapped - due to oil consumption test and warranty replacement by Nissan??? this option would get you the better tranny....

Do you need the better tranny for daily driving - IMHO....NO...

--- if your looking to turbo a track car - get an 06, hands down......as the MREV will yield you better turbo HP numbers...and the maintenance to oil the car should be there with a track car.....
