Default Manual Transmission Fluid / Oil

After searching, I saw many here use the Redline 75w90 for the transmission.
Across other forums (BMW) many people use the Redline D4 ATF for their manual gearboxes with great results. Smoother and less notchy shifts in particular.

I know it's called ATF, but on the back of the bottle it states for both auto and manual transmissions.

My 350z shifts perfect, but I would like to replace the transmission oil as preventive maintenance when I install my Carbonetics LSD.
Anyone here tried the Redline D4 ATF for their tranny?

ive used motul, redline 75w90 and oem transmission fluid. oem and redline were the best feeling and if you aren't going nuts on the gearbox i would recommend OEM or staying with what you got now. if it is shifting perfectly why fix nothing.

Maybe that doesn't directly answer your question. As for the LSD I use redline in my rear diff with the OS Giken rear diff.

Ok when I do replace the fluid I'll go with Redline 75w90.

Do not use Redline 75W-90 in the Z33 gearbox. The pressure enhanced additives in that particular product are designed for use in diffs, but not the tranny. Redline MT85 is a synthetic gearbox lubricant designed with just enough friction to allow syncros to work properly and has the viscocity Nissan recommends.

Thank you! I'll go with what you recommended.

Thats what I have its actually a mix my shop put together with the Redline. I had Motul after my clutch/FW replacement but couldnt get into gear in the morning, especially first. Swapped in Redline and issue went away completely.

After reading some negative comments on the redline (and also some positive like yours), I think I will just use the OEM Nissan MTF fluid for my tranny flush.

I have 6 bottles of Redline in my garage waiting for the spring to change my fluid. Hopefully it gets rid of that 5th gear grind or at least helps it!!!

I recently bought an 03 z and replaced the fluid because i don't know that it had ever been done. I didn't have any shifting issues until i changed it out to redline mt85. Now it kinda clunks into gear while cold and sometimes even when warned up. I'll probably try oem if it continues.

Thank you, just made me more certain about changing out using the OEM Nissan fluid.

I changed mine out for redline. Grinds from 3rd to 4th, every time now.

Feels like there is no oil in the gearbox now.

I had Redline MT-90 before they came out with 85. High rev shifts were very smooth, but low rev shifts were inconsistent. Switched to OEM and it's been smooth at all rev range. Most noticeable improvement is cold shifts.

Thanks for all the feedback people. With every post I am happy I ordered the OEM fluid.
I went for OEM fluid in my BMW too, just so you know Redline users in BMWs had also reported some poor results, not only in our 350Zs.

Every Z I've owned has used Motul with nothing but success. Used redline for about a month and quickly drained it out. Very notchy compared to Motul. Never use anything else
