Karl - I'm in the position that it'll never be "done." As far as drive-able, I should be on the road for the track meet

Alberto - Corey's got more than 2 bolt-ons.... Also, remember that his engine was hand-built, and not just another VQ off the line. Clearances and build specs are not on par with 99.9% of any other "stock" VQ's I've heard of. Break-in was conducted at an "easy" 500 miles followed by a consistent beating afterwards. And I'm a firm believer that break-in, regardless of boosted / NA has a huge impact on how everything pans out with these cars.

From what I've read on the forum, the dyno's from that day were not typically high. Corey had an unusually high dyno, but I can't recall anyone else having high numbers that day... Please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm going off of forum info and wasn't actually in attendance. That leads me to believe that Dave wasn't handing out high numbers...

To play Devil's advocate, I'm talking with Corey about getting a couple of other dyno's for comparison. Trust me - when I heard about his numbers, I was the first person to call BS. But I also know that I've driven his car personally and can say with confidence that his car pulls harder than most other NA Z's and G's I've been in / driven.

For what it's worth, I hope that his numbers from other shop dyno's are consistent with Dave's. But I won't speak to things we have yet to measure. Stay tuned

The funniest dyno Ive seen posted from your shop came from an NA car-Corey's G, no offense to him but when he is doing 280whp with 2 bolt-ons it makes you look silly. Your obviously gonna post really technical $hit to defend yourself, while that may sound fine, the numbers at the end of the day are wack (although not so much in Karls case). The high numbers are gonna start taking away credibility. Your shop do with it as you wish, Im just stating my opnion on a forum, this is an online forum right? Maybe if I was a FT nuthugger you wouldnt take it so personal. Id like to read your 2 page explanation on why Corey's G dyno'd so high. You do know the new shootout mode and old (like yours) have different parameters right?
At the end of the day, I guess the only way you're going to know what you're really putting to the wheels is bringing it to the track (with decent traction, and non-palsy shifting). Last time around I trapped 95.69 mph. It might be a stretch but I'm shooting for 100 mph.

I didnt mean to step on Dave's toes, I think he took my post the wrong way.

My confusion comes from this--->Corey did 280whp, Charlers did 340whp the same day with 150 shot and many bolt-ons. That left me scratching my head to say the least, Im sure Dave wil chime in and set it straight...

i dont know if this makes any difference on the settings of daves dyno, but corey dynoed around 9am and i believe charles dynoed sometime in the afternoon so maybe temps had something to do with it? other people dynoed with i think the same amount as mods as corey or more and iirc, he was the highest N/A dyno of the day

So you're saying he inflated Corey's numbers and brought down Charles' numbers? Before you were just saying all the numbers were high.

No-dont put words in my mouth. Im saying what would cause such a big difference between two cars on the same day? When I see a FT dyno-I never know if its gonna be uncorrected (actual), read like a DJ or read higher than a DJ. Im by no means an expert at dyno's but I see a big range in the numbers, and I do know what they read like with no correction/nothing affecting the numbers. I know you can add correction-which Dave stated he doesnt, and I know the temp probe can affect readings as Ive read MRC post about, Im still waiting to hear from Dave on why a Z with bolt-ons and 150 shot on a fresh bottle would "only" dyno 60whp above an NA VQ...is that hard to understand?

BTW-Im not calling Dave out, I have no reason to, I just want to understand why the diff...you guys all know Ive trusted FT with my car before and Id do it again in a heart beat...FT crew can all calm down now...

IMO getting your car dynoed on a dyno that you never had a stock baseline on is pointless (Dynojet aside). BUT if a shop is charging only 25 bones for three pulls w/ A/F, what the heck, I'd do it for gits and shiggles. Dynos should really only determine if your performance mods actually made a difference.

For the record my stock baseline dyno was done in all three modes. No correction (228 whp), Corrected (236 whp), and shootout mode (239 whp). All in that order.

That's not correct. Shootout mode is identical between the system. That's the entire point behind Shootout mode it's a Dyno Dynamic world standard.

To add a little more info. I have also dynoed on a mustang dyno last year (bone stock). I put 239 to the wheels and it was ambient temperature corrected. Temp was in the high 80's.

^^^ Ok ... that was probably uncalled for. Getting personal like that especially in the Mid-a forum is NOT needed. I guess I'll close this for a bit until people can behave. As much as people do not like Berto's posts, he wasn't getting personal.
