Default Explain a time slip from the track.

I been to the track plenty of times to watch, but never to run. I want to know, what does everything mean on a time slip. And what should be some numbers I should aim for on the slip?

60' = the first 60 foot of the track...lets you know how good of traction you pulled off...generally a 2.0x on street tires is ok, a sub 2 is superb

1/4 = 1/4 time
MPH = how fast you trapped...

thats basically all...

Another thing beginners will sometimes get confused with is reaction time doesn't effect your ET in any way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think .500 is perfect on a sportsman's tree and .400 on a pro tree.

I think I need this explained... when does the clock start ticking if your reaction time to when the light turns green doesn't matter?

I always thought the timer started once the light turned green.

The timer doesn't start until your tires break the laser "starting line" beam. You can sit at the line with your brakes still held for 10 seconds if you like, yet still run a 14.0 @ 99mph. Your timeslip will still say 14.0 @ 99mph, yet your reaction time will be 10.000

Your reaction time will not effect your E.T.

The only place where reaction time matters is when you are bracket racing, because then the first person to the end of the track wins, so you want to react as quick as you can to the green light.

I always launch on the last yellow (bracket reacing here) if you wait for the green you waited to long and will be +1 or greater. We are talking milleseconds

6MT ABOUT 2500 rpm's and getting the tires sticky helps regardless of what some say. If it is a real hard tire try it both ways.

A5T (like mine) completly diffferent, you pull the brake use to get any kind of sub 2.0 launch.

I agree here, do a DRY BURNOUT though, of you go thru the wet box water may get trappedi n your tread, drip out on the line and cuase too much wheel spin on take off...
