I also seem to remember that the Z1 is slightly tapered. Something like 80mm inlet to 76-77mm outlet. I know both Gabe and I measure back in the day, but I've since forgotten the exact measurement.

You're right. I bought 1cockyz's and it was 82mm on the filter side and like 76mm on the intake pipe side.

Yeah it is. They raised it, too. I got my GTM MAF for like 130.

I think it was only ~110-120 from Z1 back in the day...200 is excessive.

What is the logic of the bigger MAF housing when you still have the same sized intake & TB?

The MAF can read more air than stock size, so you can tune it for more air. The most logical is to increase everything, which is what I am in the process of doing.

What TB does a Titan have?

Is there room to bore out the Z TB?

If you go that far, you might as well port the plenum inlet to match the larger opening as well.

I'm not sure how much a change in MAF will gain you power, but that graph is misleading. Most of that power was gained from tuning for the Non Rev lower manifold, not because of the maf itself.

+1, that is one of the reason I was going to use it on my car since at WOT I'm scraping the 4.96-4.98 maf voltage already. This would have given me a little more room before changing the MAFS but with my new plans that extra margin will not be enough.

Agreed, hard to say whether the gains were more attributed to the MAF or the nonrev lower. Hence the reason I haven't been proactive on putting it on my car.. Maybe the_coupe might be able to debunk this soon enough.

Not sure if you guys know but the Fujita intake system is a 3" tube from filter to TB, which is very similar to the Furookie system sexyrob has tested. One thing that is different from the two is the filter. I think fujita has a velocity stack but not the furookie (just gauging based on the picture). Anyways, there is a clear consistent change in the AFR.

pretty much the way im thinkin is......imma do this small intake shootout on this dynojet and see what gains are made. then when i get my modified lower plenum on....ill put the afe intake back on with it....back to cin and see what gain just the plenum alone gave. then ill put the intake on that gave me better numbers to see what that intake alone gained. THEN, IF i have a 3" maf setup....ill put it on and retune for that to see what gains i further make

still taking donations

Lmao at these tags in this thread. Kacs07? Lol.

Back OT so maybe the 3"maf isn't worth ****? Maybe I just need to swap out ny intake for a fujita and get my headers

Which graph are you referring to? I can assure you that my car was tuned prior to the change. Only difference was the tube/maf housing. Density altitude was very close (temp and baro were nearly identical). I will dig through my old posts later to see if I posted a graph at some point.

Maybe this will help shed some light on the 3" maf theory.

http://forums.maxima.org/all-motor/6...yno-gains.html

This isn't your typical test since a custom plenum is involved but 3" mafs are said to give pretty good gains.
