yeah i'll get everything looked at once i get it torn apart more. you have to put a tiny amount of rtv on the outer parts of the #1 cam cap and i did as such with a thin layer, but you never know. all of the other components were getting oil pressure and had airflow when we were blowing through each hole/galley. the vtc sprockets were getting air, and i believe the 3 passages from the solenoid were clear.....or maybe one had a lil obstruction. cant remember, ill ask my bud that is helping me with it since he was the one blowing air everywhere. lol
and i doubt its the sprockets since it is only for a couple seconds at first start up. it makes no other noise any other time. BUT i can take the sprockets off my original motor since i know it never made any noise lol.
and as far as the oil squirter.....idk what to think. honestly, idc. lol im not tearin into the motor for those things.

yeah im 99.9% positive all the orings were in place correctly because i double/triple checked them for a good fit before bolting the timing covers up.
will pull it the rest apart today after work...stay tuned.

well, we've gone through all of the oil passages/galleys and they seemed to be clear. no oil pressure to/thru the secondary bank1 tensioner. so i suspect the tensioner had a malfunction going on. put a new tensioner on, but i went ahead and ordered new secondary chains while i had everything apart....they should be in tomorrow or wednesday. and i already have all new primary guides and chain sitting aside too. im HOPING this was all that was wrong.

ya, I was pissed when mine all went together, had a friend put the valve covers on and I didn't know that he messed both up and they were leaking like hell and the car wouldn't start... So, I thought it was a tune problem, and there I am at Uprev in Austin fixing both valve cover gaskets and poof, it fired right up after that, I towed the car for no reason... then the intake cam gear is shot, it sux! And I still need to go back to Austin to get my tuned fix... I hope I am at the end of the tunnel for this engine BS!
Best of luck bro!

I would assume there may have been a mistake in the placement of them but it is possible the clearences are different at the bottom of the stroke in the different cylinders (I don't know this for a fact but from what I remember its possible). I labeled the cylinder and orientation so they went back where they came from on mine but IIRC they are keyed and if the key is incorrectly installed they will reach out into the wrong places.

/\ this is a possibility that i am unsure about. the guy that bored my block took them out so i had no idea of order with them when i bolted them back in. im hopin it was just the 1 that broke off for whatever reason....idc to look into it, but thats all i saw in the lower pan when i dropped it. the new secondary chains should be in tomorrow, so ill start puttin it back together if they do.

IT IS FIXED!!!
first off, i found a couple more pieces of said oil squirter in the oil pickup screen. oh well lol. next.
so i put in the new bank1 secondary tensioner along with all new chains and guides. put it all back together with some help with a buddy in 2 hours last night. started it up (remember it has been sitting for about a week with no oil in it) and NO noise! started it up this morning before going to work and guess what....NO NOISE!!!!!! i so happy naow!!!
oh yeah, i did compare the old secondary chains to the new ones and yes, a lil bit of stretch.
now i need to do this intake dyno comparison

it was definitely the tensioner.
i knew i shouldve put all new timing stuff on it, but i didnt since this motor had less than 20k on it. thats what i get for thinking
either way, im happy. thanks for the online support guys

im not saying the chains were causing the noise. it was the tensioner. but if it was bad and the chain WAS slapping around, then it will cause it to stretch if it isnt already. so yes, if you are building your motor with nice internals. spend the extra couple hundred bucks and put all new tensioners, guides and chains on.
