Default HELP! ZEX is pissing me off!!!

Ok, I'm down to my last straw in dealing with ZEX. I have installed their nitrous kit and it just is not working. They had refused to send me a new control unit, so I sent them mine, which they said they tested and found worked fine. After I program mine and go for a test drive, at full throttle the led blinks like it should for a couple seconds (meaning solenoids are opening), then goes on constantly (meaning solenoids are closed). I have checked, double checked, triple checked, quadruple checked hell checked my set up 10 times and everything is fine.

To those who have successfully programmed in to their car, please let me know your procedure in detail and if you ran into any snags. I've tried it two or three ways. ONE: being putting the car in 1st gear with the key on and flooring it to program the unit (which works fine while the car is off) and TWO: manually opening the throttle valve and programming it. Neither is working! I have hooked the red wire directly to battery through the switch, black directly to ground, white wire directly to the GREEN TPS wire (0-4V TP signal, confirmed the correct wire by ZEX) I have tried several variations of each. I'm giving ZEX one last chance to overnight me a new control unit to try before I give them a lot of negative feedback. I'm also an electrical/controls engineer and worked as an electronics technician through college, so I know what the f** I'm doing with my wiring!.

OK I just tried this for about an hour!! I cannot get the zex control unit to program. Do you have to manually push the butterfly open? I tried just flooring it with the key on ON nothing happened. Does the car have to be in 1st gear? Is that the trick? Someone Please Help!!

Default No problems here

Wiring:
Black to ground on the intake plenum
Red to arming switch
Arming switch to 12 volt accessory
White to TPS (which is also white on my car-G35)

Programming:
Turn ignition “on” in neutral; do not start the car
Turn arming switch on
Depress and release the black push-button on the ZEX control unit
(The indicator light should be solid red)
Open the throttle body butterfly by hand and hold
(The indicator light will soon flash red-green-clear repeatedly)
Release the butterfly
Turn arming switch off, then back on
(The indicator light should be green)
You are ready to spray

I got this thing programed and it seems to be clicking right. The problem is it is not spraying!! I can hear it spraying into the intake but I get no boost!! Do you have to modify that spx adapter to work? Any ideas?

What do you mean you can hear it spraying? While driving? Or did you test it with the car off (simply activated the system for a second) and then take it for a test drive and get no gain?

Does the car actually lose power? If so, the bottle is either closed or empty, or the nitrous/fuel jets are misplaced.

If there is no difference at all, then the system is not activating.

No modification is needed for the adapter.

Let me know some more details and I'll reply.

Just activating the system for a second with the key on on. Bottle is open purge works great. I know the system is not activating as I feel no difference at all!! This is with a 52/28. I am going to pull out the nozzle and try to spray it and watch. I am frusturated with the whole thing. I was so hopeful and this install/system let me down!!

Well I am trying to figure out why this thing is not working. Basically it sprays with the key on car off in 1st-6th gear. When the car is running is does not appear to be spraying.I tried to reprogram the unit like 02trex said but the problem is if the car is not in gear it will not program. I only have a green wire like McDan has. I think I may have to fab up a micro switch to get this rolling unless McDan can enlighten me.

Whats a 52/28 Jspec 350z? If that means its only a 50 shot jet, it may be working your just not feeling it because it only about 25rwhp. I not good with NOS. Never used it so forgive me if I sound dumb.

Still does not work. I am waiting on McDan to chime in and help . I broke the chrome pill holders on the bottom of the nozzle last night trying to remove the nozzle to test it out. I ordered 3 this morning. I am going to hook up a switch to the trigger line. Lets hope this works.

Well MYsunset350z helped me hook up a Micro pedal switch last night at the track. The bad thing is it would not spray. I didn't install my heater and it was 40 degrees out. Seems to work now I have to get the bottle heater on to test is but I think I fixed the Zex problem with a NOS switch. BTW MYSUNSET350Z ROCKS!! Thanks a ton buddy.

sorry to dig up an old thread. White wire on nitrous unit to white wire on the TB wire? I thought it was the greenwire on the throttle body???

You have to manually hold the throttlebody open with the ign on.
