Norcal Track Days
I just signed up for 3-days at Laguna Seca for Cherry's Jubilee 9/14-16. $595 for all 3 days, including breakfast, lunch, and "post-event" drinks each night. It was an exceptional event last year. www.coastaldriving.org. Garages available for an additional $100 per car for the weekend - DONE.

How far did you go off? I went off there once and some of the big chunks of rock and hard clay did a number to the underside.
I went 2 wheels off on 2 and got sideways but was able to save it and I over steered big time on 11 and went four wheelin slightly. Nothing major just kinda scary cause I've never gone off before.
Yeah it sucked too cause when I went off on 11 I had just passed my friend, a 370z, and that G35 and I was doing pretty decent and then that happened. Oh well. My friends brakes went to the floor going into 10 on Sunday and he didn't even try and turn he just went straight off that dirt patch area.
What tires do you run, and what brake pads? Were you guys running over the hill or the bypass? Was it crowded in each session, and could you guys get some clean laps in?
Saturday was hill Sunday was bypass. Solo was realllllly crowded on Sunday I didn't get a single clean lap without getting caught behind someone lol. I talked to Luc and he said I can run Point by next time so its not too bad.
What is a decent time for a mildly prepped Z/G at thunderhill with street tires/slicks?
I am just starting to get stuff worked out on the car, as well as getting some seat time. Right now I am on 275/305 re11's, and am using the pads that came in the 6/4-piston Brembo GT's, I believe they are very similar to the ferodo 2500's. For this level of driving, I was very impressed by the brakes and tires, they both handled the heat well, no greasyness or fading.

are you still on AST shocks and 950lb springs?
what times were you running anyways?
when do you plan on going back, any other tracks on your list?

Yep, AST's and I am up to 1k springs in the rear (on the arm) and will probably bump up the fronts a little.
Someone timed a couple laps from the pits and said I was in the 2:15 range. Not sure if that was a clean lap or not. Either way, the driver and tuning are the limiting factor right now, should get much faster.
I'd like to go back to t-hill in a month or so, trying to get the db level down so I can pass sound.
More tracks to come, when I'm a little more confident in my setup and driving.

I remember years ago when I first took my 300 to T-hill, and the good guys were running in the upper 2:teens / 2:20 with the cyclone. Tire and brake technology has come so far, that guys with just a few days under their belts can run that kind of time with their very mildly prepped street cars. I still think a sub 2:20 over the cyclone and a mid 2:teen with the bypass is very respectable for someone still learning the ropes. Take off another 5-7s to hang with "the fast" guys, then seek that sub 2min lap for what seems like forever *sigh*.
I'm gonna see if I can watch some videos of the "fast guys" before the next event. Maybe pick up on some of the lines they're driving. I think there are some scotts300 vids on here somewhere : ).
And yes, over 103db's. Sg headers + a merged y-pipe, into a 3.5" race exhaust. First time I went out with the largest off-the-shelf burns muffler and meatball'd a 106db. Swapped it for a 2-stage, same. Called up coast fab and had them make the longest muffler that would fit under the car and installed it in addition to the large burns out back, and last week blew a 104's.
A turn down, off to the left, should get me by at thunderhill, but I'm gonna have to do something funky if I ever want to see laguna. Trying not to destroy all the gains I've made, plus Rob at Z-car would be mad if I messed up his tune.
