Default Whats the weather like? (Leadville, Co)

My girlfriend and I plan on taking a trip to leadville and denver, from June 24-?. I was wondering how it would be if I drove the Z, and what kind of clothes should we take, etc? Also what is there to do in those parts, I hear its the highest point in Colorado.?.

What are your gas prices also?

thanks

The weather is usually quite nice at that time of the year, but bring along enough clothes to cover the odd rain shower and the cool evening temps. Leadville is near a lot of mountain resorts, so you'll have shopping, "touristy-stuff" and most of the conveniences of home. But if you're going to the mountains, you've simply got to take in the outdoor activities: hiking, rafting, fishing, you name it.

Premium gas prices in the Denver metro area are running about $2.09 as of 5/17/04. Prices are typically 10-20% higher in the mountain towns, so keep that in mind. News outlets are predicting increases throughout the summer.

Our little 350Z group is planning a drive around the timeframe you mention. The trip will run from Denver to the beautiful SW section of our state, however.

Hope you enjoy your trip to Colorado and feel free to post or PM with more questions.

My advice............skip the Six Flags here in Denver. IMO the worst of all Six Flags properties. Being a member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts and having visited many theme parks around the country this I feel is one of the worst. I live here and rarely ever go unless I have too.

With that said..........I can guarantee that if you were to make this drive with us to Durango you will not find a more beautiful area of this state and possibly the country then the path we are taking to get down there. We'll even be going right through Leadville!!
Durango in itself is one of the most beautiful scenic towns the state has to offer.
There should be around 6 Z's that I am quite sure will be attending, but there is still lots of time so that may change.

We enjoy six flags so we might take the plunge. What do you think of Six Flags over Texas? We love that place! Also I think you can add two more Z's to the trip. We will prolly drive with you guys for a day!

Leadville is the highest town, not the highest spot in Colorado.

FairladyZ,
We'd be glad to have you along. It's always nice to meet some new folks especially from different parts of the country. Never know when you might be on the road and need a friendly face or just some local advice. You guys are welcome to join in the trip. Keep an eye on this space for meeting times and lodging preferences.

I am newbie to Colorado and have recently ordered my Z, but it will not be here until late July or early August.

I think that this Z ride is a great idea and would love to be able to join you guys (If I only had the car sooner)..

Are you guys planning on doing this again later in the summer?

If so I would love to join..

Keep an eye on this site or check out zccc.org. That is the Z club of Colorado. They have a lot of activities going on throughout the year. Come to some of the meets and check out the cars. It might help ease the pain.
I know all about the wait for your car. I waited about 6 months for mine. What are you getting? Let us know color, model, and options.

I am getting a 2004 Touring, PPW w/ frost leather. I am not getting the NAV or side airbags, or satellite radio, but all the other options are included. I have already put aside the money to order the NISMO Exhaust and NISMO CAI. I am trying to decide if I should attempt to install these myself (I have never done much auto work), or to get them installed by the Nissan dealer. What do you all think?

I will check out the website above. Thanks

The PPW is a very classy color. You might want to plan on letting the dealer install the mods for you. It will help with warranty if they do it and the CAI is a real chore.

The Durango trip id Friday, June 25th to Sunday, June 27th. It's going to be a lot of fun.
