Congrats on the potential new job, Patrick! $35K increase with potential headroom is pretty significant by any standard. 50 cents/mile isn't too bad, but could be higher (I've had 2 jobs that paid per mile also and they both paid more). However, I'm sure the company took into consideration the long distance driving, which saves them money but doesn't put as much into your pocket. Keep in mind that traveling weekly (KS <--> TX) will rack up miles like a b1tch and a LOT sooner than you think. Lastly, per diem means "per day."

Ya kinda figured that on the per diem thing but I've honestly never had to use the phrase before lol. I'll find out all the details on Sunday and if it's what I've been told it is by his wife then it's a no brainer. I'll definately be buying a second vehicle to do the drive in once I get some cash in my pockets and pay off most if not all of my debt which isn't too terribly much. Only about 15k left to pay off including the car, credit cards and my student loans. I definately don't wanna put those miles on my z as it already has over 127k on it.
His wife told me $100 per diem, for food and lodging so that would make a lot more sense being per day for both of those. Probably still be a bit out of pocket though but for such a large increase in pay I really don't care much. She said that after three to five years I can expect to make as much as $16k per month which may be high hopes but hell I'd be happy with half that lol. I'll keep you guys posted on it. The guy is also an avid outdoorsman and hunter and would like me to go on a hunting trip with him sometime this year.

On the mileage thing, my current company is the worst I've ever seen at only 47 cents per mile and that's only for the guys that work in the office. I don't get shiet but a thanks for being on time lol. I've actually taken a small pay cut to come back to this company after my little fiasco a few months ago where I left and then had to come back. I lost my supervisor position and all that nifty crap.

Congrats Pat ! 0

I hope everything works out in your favor. Sad to see you be working so far away, but at least you'll have some weekends to still track with us.

Just remember that hard work pays off at least 3X in the end....so work hard my friend so you can play hard !

Only thing that sucks is you guys won't be seeing me too much anymore as the job is in Pratt, KS just west of Wichita. I'd still be coming back on the weekends though as I get per diem (i think i used that right lol) weekly for food and lodging and also I think 50 cents per mile or something for driving. Not sure exactly how that one works yet. Cross your fingers that when I meet with him that the job is everything I need it to be.
Pat, did you ever send your resume to that security job I gave the number to ?

Pat, what's the name of the company? Oil business is a good business to be in.

Is this the place in Flower Mound off of 407 ? Where Stephen had his Z before it blew up ?

If so I might be able to meet you up there and take you to lunch.
