Does the new VQ35HR have a rod lenght of 151.6mm vs 144mm VQ35DE? The longer rod lenght allows the engine to go to 7500rpm reaching a piston speed of 20.35m/s, a new performance standard on the 3.5L.

Ok I am not a wealth of knowledge when it comes to trans and especially clutches and all the mechanics. But I think I follow what you did. A few questions though, did it take a product that was already available or did you make this set up. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but ya never know till ya ask. Also who and where did you get this set up from. I just want to be prepared if the clutch problem strikes me.
Also personal opinion on the stock set up and why it is giving problems is welcomed to??

Cheers

Kevin

Kevin, FWIW they're claiming the clutch problem was an air pocket in the hydraulic system. While that seems a little over-simplified, I can't really argue with them.. that's sort of what it acted like when I had the issue.

If I understood the above post, I don't think Sharif actually did anything to the clutch, this is the new design on the 07s.

Correct...I was just describing the revised clutch mechanism on the 07's. But now i hear people are having issues with the 07's as well. I have this funny feeling...that the majority of the issue is just air in the system, that was never removed when the cars were put together.

In other words... bleeding it out might be able to cure the problem.

Don't quite see how rod length has any effect on piston speed. If the stroke is the same, it has to travel the same distance in the same amount of time. The points at which peak piston acceleration occurs is all that changes; average piston speed does not. The primary advantage to having a longer rod is that it reduces the rod angle, which reduces thrust loads on the cylinder walls. This lowers friction and promotes smoother and quieter engine operation.

Unfortunately, not a whole lot. The cost involved in doing a transplant would be cost prohibitive. Would be better off just building up your DE.

So then what are the parts that we could use on our car with out it being super costly.

sharif, can you post a picture of the lower plenum collector? i may have a hunch that the lower connector can be used onto the de. if not, perhaps a small spacer that can connect the de heads and the hr LPC would work.

Oie! Im back! haha
I have been missing for a while here... School and work are a pain!

First off good work forged... Keep em comming...

Now this proably has already been addressed but is this the engine in the GTR? From the looks of it since it seems to be reinforced for boost thats my assumption...

The fundamentals should be close, but the GT-R engine will be a different displacement, lower compression, completely different intake, and reinforced even more....probably have variable valve lift as well, and bunch of other goodies.
