I just got an 08 nismo 350z. About to hit 9k miles. When I got the car it had a sticker suggesting next oil change @13k so I'm assuming its already been swapped to synthetic. After reading s bit I think I'll be going with M1 0W-40. Initially I was going to use Royal Purple 5w-30. I use M1 filters. My question is do you think my motors fully broken in at this mileage? Also, should I change the oil before the recommended 13k miles since I dont know when it was changed or what they used? Bought the car from a Nissan Dealership in AL.

just did my 2nd oil change since i owned the car, we have a family friend in the lubricants business so i had him to a analysis when i changed the oil. i looked into many threads talking about oil change intervals and possibly changing to full synthetic. The oil is Pennzoil 5w-30, driven 5000 miles, the engine at the time of change had 40k miles. heres the results. i dont personally understand them but i am told it is well within range and 5k mile intervals are fine. i will continue to analyze a couple more changes to ensure consistent results.

Im using royal purp 10w30, and it seems like im always low on oil. The dealership says everything is fine, no leaks, compression is good, no smoke, etc. I still have to top it off probably once a week. What gives?

dont use Royal purple.. am using "TOTAL" synthetic oil and no problems at all.

Why you use so watery oil ??
In Poland we don't have so big air temperatures and for best engine life and good oil pressure we drive on Mobil Pick Life 5w50 or Valveline 5w50 for normal drive even in winter when temperatures drop to -25*C (-13 F).
On track only Motul 20w60 or 15w50 in light spec of engine with good oil cooler.

Watery - like water...
On that oil there is no problem with oil pressure ??
What is engine life of that type of oil ?
In Europe most strong cars use more "fat" oil like 10W60 or 20W60...
