Well after waiting a month to get the part at one dealer ship I decided to go to another one and they said they had the part. Well it turns out they didn't have the part after I dropped off my car but they are hoping that the part is going to come in today. Odds are they wont get the part and it will be on back order is my guess. Freaking Nissan must want me to go trade for a Honda or something.

How do they know where you bought it? They dont care, they get paid either way.

I suppose its worth a shot, as its now going on 4 weeks for the part. That was the response that I received by a Honda dealer some years back. I would imagine on recalls the question is raised where it was purchased.....I dont know for sure.

Well it seems Nissan is now telling all of the dealers that the part is on back order and there is no ETA on when the parts will even be available again. I have been in contact with two different dealers. The first dealer didn't have the part and ordered one, that has been over a month ago now. I called another dealer which said they had one so I dropped off my car and guess what, they don't have one but they thought they where getting one the following day so I left my car another day. No part the next day so they call Nissan in front of me and they told then that the part is on backorder and there is no ETA. WHAT FUN!!!

You are probably right. I can't understand why Nissan could send out a recall and not have enough parts. They know how many cars are affected.

Wow I must have been lucky. My dealer had all but the fluid last week when I took my car in. To my surprise i was even able to talk them into a rental. (Chevrolet Aveyo: worst car ever)

I had the problem with the clutch on the floor when I first picked up the car. I was a little concerned that it might have been air in the system but the clutch fluid reservoir looks to be a bit overfull. It popped back up before I was on the expressway and I haven't noticed anything else out of the ordinary with the pedal.

The day after I got it back I had trouble shifting from first to second when I first pulled it out of the garage, but I can't say if I'm to blame for having to double clutch or the car.

After waiting a few weeks, I got the recall done yesterday. I have to say the car doesn't feel much different to drive, although the shifter is aligned a little differently. Basically everything is moved forward, so pretty much where neutral used to be is now 4th. I know this because I casually put my hand on the shifter from my usual spot on the armrest, and I thought I was in N, but it was actually 4th. (almost stalled!)

1st, 3rd, & 5th are pretty close to the hazard light switch. But it didn't take long to get used to.

At first it felt like the clutch pedal's range of motion was cut in half, but i pulled it back towards me just once and now its back to normal every time, with a little bit more spring in its step.

Made an appointment for Thursday morning. Asked if they had the part... Service advisor called parts... Parts said good to go. Lets see if when I drop the car off they have imaginary parts in stock.

so is this recall necessary? my parts guys at the local nissan dealership said they did this recall cause one car slave cylinder failed, so they said better safe then sorry....tried about 2 months ago to get the z in and the dealer said they had to order the part....few weeks passes, and the other 2 local dealers say the same thing...just wondering if this will be a major issue seeing that i'm moving from socal to norcal.....i should be able to get this done at an dealer, right? thanks!

This is not an isolated incident. Many 07 owners have had their clutch slave fail, and have had to tow their cars to the dealer. At least one owner, that we know of, was involved in an accident and sustained life threatening injuries.

If you received a voluntary recall letter from Nissan, you can take that letter and have the recall performed at any Nissan dealer.

just had the service done. The local dealership(I didn't buy the car from them, but I did buy it from another dealership owned by the same people) was just fine for service. I heard so many horror stories about the parts not coming in, but they had mine in within a few days, they called and sent a letter informing me which parts they had gotten in for the recall. Dropped the car off at 9 a.m., got a phone call about 11:45 saying it was done and they'd have it out in front waiting for me. The clutch does feel a little more solid and firm, but I believe I read that it may go back to normal feeling in a few days, so we shall see. It definitely feels like it made the 1-2 shift smoother though. The service writer complimented me on having a very nicely done car as well, and the tech told me he tried to reset the check engine light for me, even though he knew it probably wouldn't stay off because of my exhaust.

Z is in the shop now. Dealer had the part within 10days. They are also doing the JWT flywheel for 1/2 hour labor charge or $46ish.

damn, nice dealer.

The recall def. helped my clutch! Stronger feel, better grip, smoothier throughout the gears!
