Default Any power loss with the AEM intakes?

I'm about to go ahead and order the AEM intakes. I've been looking around and there doesn't seem to be as much information on the AEM intakes as the fujita and JWT intakes. I know I can't really expect much of anything from just an intake but I just really don't want to buy these AEMs and lose power. Can anyone comment on this? If they rob any power I'll probably just end up going with the pop chargers.

Thanks

From what many threads here contain, your probably not going to gain anything, may even lose a little torque down low.

I have the fujitas and love them though... so its on you.

There is someone in the marketplace selling them for 160 or so I believe. In my opinion, I would just save the money. The Fujita's actually lose horsepower, so I can't really justify spending 300 or so dollars for the noise that it makes. I had nismo intakes on my 2007, and I could barely hear a difference. Not to mention, if you want to reflash your car in the future, the reflash from Technosquare will yield better numbers with the stock airboxes. I believe COBB also did some testing, and found the aftermarket intakes on the HRs to be almost useless. I don't know about Injen's new "cold" air intake, but I presume that it'll be the same. Either way, it does sound different under WOT from the outside, but you can't really hear it from the inside. If you want to spend the money, look for a used set, that way when you don't want them anymore in the future, you won't feel like you lost a whole buncha money like I did with my nismo intakes. Good luck!

I'll probably end up going with the pop chargers based on all the feedback about them.

CAI's = Power loss due to extended length and bends.

^How do you figure? Have you seen the intakes for the HR motor? They are anything but CAI's.

And about sound, the fujitas are loud as hell inside and out.

^I was speaking about nismo intakes...not intakes in general. At the end of the day, although the intakes come with a nice sound, it doesn't justify power loss and a hefty price tag. As I said before, getting a used set would be your best bet.

^ Since when is 300 shipped a pricey tag? Hell, there are not many things you can even buy for the car under 300 bux. In most cases, it may get you a tire for a 19" rim and get it balanced and mounted. And the resale on these are great, most end up selling them in a couple days if they arent scratched to death.

Funny looking back at this thread and seeing people with 3” Cold Air intakes on the Hr’s and gaining 20-30whp especially when tuned by Admin
